Reminds me, just a bit, of the Nautilus submarine in "League of Extraordinary Gentleman".
Electric engines have me concerned: either the extension cord is very long and waterproof or,
the drive up charging stations will be extremely expensive!

A lot of ships are "Electric" these days. In fact, some of our most well known ships/ship types have "Electric Propulsion". The electricity just happens to be generated by a nuclear reactor. Notice they don't specify in that article how the electricity is generated, just that the engines are electric. Well shit, this isn't new! WWII Submarines had electric engines too!

What I find interesting is the main weapon systems for it are not even finished yet. If I remember right this is the ship to be the testbed for the navy's railgun and it's more advanced laser systems.
Also electric drives have been around longer than the internal combustion engine XD

I think they're only testing it's seaworthiness and maneuverability right now. And I'm pretty sure they're only going to let out the info they want on it's weapons system and other things. Personally I like that bow. That thing looks like "well, we're out of missiles and bullets, might as well ram the fuckers and split them in half"!

Maybe they're hoping that some asshole country wants to attack the ship on it's test voyages and surprise them with a working weapons system?
