The entire universe is going on about the Syrian refugees. .
If where you lived broke out into civil war, would you flee or stay and risk dying and fight for your home?

Assuming defending my home and family is a viable option, I believe I would do it.
Against an overwhelming force I would surely flee.

I don't know if I would flee just yet. When I had my farm and horses I actually had a "shit hits the fan" plan on packing up and moving out on horseback and heading for the hills and prepare my little "fiefdom" from there. I most likely would do the same only without horses. Might grab the saddle anyway and steal a couple at some point
But I most definitely will stay until the bullets ran out.

I'm just gonna be the big arrogant American asshole and say I don't have to worry about it here.
You also left out the option of joining the cause.
I'm pretty sure that most of these people are fleeing because they have no means to fight.

I have a defensable position and wide shooting range, long range rifles, shotguns, small caliber weapons for "final dispatch", game loads, ammo stores, water sources, and a good secondary location just 4 miles away. I have others who will be joining me with varied skillsets and all of them have marksmanship skills and weapons. One of them was a Special Forces sniper with confirmed kills in the middle east.

TBH I'm reasonably sure they're fleeing all the bombs falling out of the sky, kind of hard to shoot back at those.

Well, my plan was cold war era planning. I still stand by taking horses and taking as many as you can in tow. Gasoline will be scarce, so will mechanics to fix the vehicles. I'm not as skilled at auto repair as most are and Matt knows less than I do. Horses although require food, are easy. Food and water for them grow naturally along the way. And If it gets really bad, I have food. Horses still make sense for a civil war.
