Car Detailing - Twitchin Kitten - 10-31-2015
So I called the guy who put on the stripes on the Mustang asking him if he had any idea what to use on them to take stains off that is safe for vinyl. He had no clue and said he'll call the manufacturer. When he did the stripes last year, he said not to ever wax the stripes. He denies this. I had Matt standing next to me and he heard the same thing.
so anyway, he also said to check out this guy Alex an see if he knows. Well, he comes highly recommended by Frank and said he's an amazing detailer. The car is with him right now and a three stage 'get me through the winter' (outside only is needed) is only going to cost me $180.00! At that price he can do the car a couple times a year.

So OMG the car. It looks AMAZING. It's like it's coated in a shield of glass. Much better than the dealer prep out of the showroom and he got ALL the swirls and scratches out! It's almost like the car is coated in Teflon. Of course a bird crapped on the roof but like magic it's gone without leaving a mark. I usually freak regarding bird shit because it's so caustic and will eat paint quickly. I even keep wipes in the car so I can take them off right away.
So now the car is covered whenever it's not in use. Those goddamn leaves from the beech trees around here are horrible. They leave brown rings and spots all over the car. OH and he got the white stripes to look white again!

A good polish with jeweler's rouge or watered down extra fine compound and then top quality wax will give you those type of results. This is what many of the pro drag teams do to maximize airflow. Hey 1/1000 of a second advantage can mean the difference between hero and zero these days.
Detailers saw this at races and custom car shows and adopted the proceedure for A-1 quality results at a minimal prices.
I take it that you're tempted to dive into the paint and swim? LOL.

I am indeed. It's covered now and I don't care what kind of pain in the ass it is, it's getting covered when not in use. He charged $180 for outside only (inside is fine) and I threw him another $20 because he went above and beyond. I don't know what he used, he won't give up his secret, but he did say he didn't use any compound. I dunno. I don't care. All I know is she looks better now than when I bought her.

I'd be pretty sure then that he used jeweler's rouge.
Done properly rouge can make oxidized aluminum look like glass polished chrome.
