If it were the U.S. version I'd give it a shot.

The US version sucked. You film in the UK for a couple months and come home. I'd go for it if I had your knowledge. Those guys make a shit ton of money and they pay you in Pounds Sterling.

Yeah but I actually like my job regardless of the cash value of doing Top Gear. Unless I had a solid guarantee of enough that I would never have to work again it's not worth the gamble.

Yeah I know....nothing ventured, nothing gained but, I'm just a bit too old for that philosophy. The potential vs the known loss just doesn't balance and since 60 is just a short block away in my journey...........

Besides that.......I'm not the HUMOUNGOUS gearhead they seek. I'm way better on classic muscle and nitro munching, fire breathing monsters than I am on euro exotics and road course nimble machinery.

My monthly periodical fare growing up was Hot Rod, Super Stock and Drag Illustrated, Drag Racing Monthly, The Elapsed Times and a few other short lived mags published by Peterson Publishing. Car and Driver and Motor Trend fell off my radar by the time I was 15. That's when they moved more to the European & luxury/performance markets.

Although the mechanical aspects are the same when taken to basics, the focus is far different.

Now off road stuff is in my library as is 2 wheeled performance but yet again, if you introduce the euro flavor I am uneducated as well as mostly uninterested.

So in the long view, I am not what they would look for.

They want this to get away from its last slapstick image Google Andy Saunders his name is in the frame

Yeah, they're running episodes here in the USA again without the big orangutan. No star in a reasonably priced car or news in the mid point of the show. Just some useful info on what they're doing. Clarkson is in the pre-recorded bits they're showing but they're running the show without him. It's actually very nice. They don't really need a third person as it seems to be working well as it is.

Why don't you do it Mark?
