If ya can't Dodge it, Ram it! - LKTraz - 07-12-2015 About 6 weeks ago my Dodge Dakota pickup blew the rear main seal. It's not an expensive fix but it's a very labor intensive fix. Parts = around $50.00 Labor = drop tranny, access and remove torque converter, remove flywheel, drop oil pan. Replace seal and reassemble. Without a garage and needing good weather (and time) for a couple of days it's not easy. I'll eventually fix it but I really needed to get something on the road in the meantime. After doing a bit of searching I found my new ride and Saturday the dealer delivered it to me. 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab SLT [attachment=3236] [attachment=3237] [attachment=3238] [attachment=3239] [attachment=3240] [attachment=3241] Has a pretty fair amount of bells and whistles. The rear suspension is air adjustable. Previous owner added the cold air induction and a turbo max performance exhaust. I went to the dealer on Friday to pick it up but they had taken it for a test ride and were not happy with the transmission so they replaced it with a fresh rebuilt one and weren't done putting it in. They took me into the shop to see it and then offered to deliver it to me Saturday. After doing the paperwork I left and lo and behold they delivered it to me at the party I was at! It rides decent, has plenty of power and everything works. This one should last me for a good while as it's in very good condition and the dealer put a bumper to bumper warranty on it for me. RE: If ya can't Dodge it, Ram it! - Twitchin Kitten - 07-13-2015 I'm dragging you with me next time I buy a used vehicle! Nice for a Dodge, very nice. Do you mind saying what you paid for it? Did Capt. Fugly outright die on you? RE: If ya can't Dodge it, Ram it! - LKTraz - 07-13-2015 Gave 7K. Fugly is just sitting. If I toss a battery in he will fire up and move. Need a bunch of work though to get him to pass inspection. Little gold Dakota blew the seal. Was driving that one since Fugly was parked. Couldn't pass this Ram up so applied for and got the financing and it's mine now! ![]() RE: If ya can't Dodge it, Ram it! - BarEdul - 07-13-2015 Yeah umm ask me to do the background search LOL I am pretty picky bitch when it comes to stuff I pay more than $500 for lol and if their not sturdy I really don't want to talk about them LOL! RE: If ya can't Dodge it, Ram it! - twisteroo - 07-13-2015 An 01 around here would be half rotted out by now. Looks pretty good from what I can see. Turns out it was a one owner truck AND I have all the original paperwork including the window sticker. ![]() I don't think it saw a lot of road salt and if it did it was washed religiously. Hell the tires on it would have cost almost $900.00 plus tax, mounting etc. That tells me the owner really gave a shit. It may have lived in a garage part of the year judging from the paint. RE: If ya can't Dodge it, Ram it! - Twitchin Kitten - 07-14-2015 That's how it was with the white Mustang we had. All original paperwork was in the glove box and the dealer didn't even know. RE: If ya can't Dodge it, Ram it! - LKTraz - 07-25-2015 Well......in the 2 weeks since I bought it only 2 very minor flaws were discovered with the truck. The cruise control didn't work and the idle was sticking up pretty high (1900 - 2000 rpm). The cruise control turned out to be just a broken vacuum line which I easily fixed and the idle problem was just gunk on the throttle spring and butterfly/choke assembly. A bit of penetrating oil then later some solvent cleared that right up. The A/C will freeze the tits off you and after discovering the aftermarket air ride suspension and putting 30 psi in them the handling is excellent! You can make a whip maneuver with the steering wheel and it will not oversteer or lean. Fuckin' sweet!!!! I like the shit out of this truck and can't wait to see how it will do in snotty winter conditions. (Not that I'm asking for an early winter mind you) Somewhere around late Oct or early Nov I need to get some new rubber as what's on it now won't be really good enough to last the season. Have new ones already scoped out and priced at my local tire shop and they already entered the truck into their database. (Gotta love having friends in the business) I'm a happy Ram owner! ![]() RE: If ya can't Dodge it, Ram it! - LKTraz - 07-30-2015 I'm thinking about getting a set of these wheels for it. American Racing AR767 black with red and blue trim stripes. [attachment=3261] This is the tire I have in mind. 255 70R/16 Cooper Discoverer A/T3. [attachment=3262] I'm also going to get the hood scoops repainted. Matte black with the front edge piece done in red. RE: If ya can't Dodge it, Ram it! - Twitchin Kitten - 07-30-2015 I've always had good luck with Cooper tires. They last longer than they are rated for. |
