Roller Derby!! - Twitchin Kitten - 10-16-2014 So we got a retro channel on our channel line up called My TV. It's in low def but it's got some cool shit from the '70's on there including the old school Roller Derby, "The Sport of the 1970's". Don't have My TV? Well don't sweat it! You can watch the old games RIGHT HERE on your computer. They upload a new show (in two parts each) every week. They show addresses where you can write the commentator or get a copy of the rule book. I'm going to send a postcard and see what happens ![]() If you have Apple TV or another similar device (roku, google tv) you can port the feed from your computer or other device to the big screen in your living room. I'm not sure how to do it with anything other than Apple computers and devices. Maybe Dylan or Vizzy knows and can help if you need it. RE: Roller Derby!! - Twitchin Kitten - 10-17-2014 OK I'm bringing the conversation back to the Roller Derby thread. ![]() Some interesting things I found on Wikipedia and now this has piqued my interest and I'm going to dig around and see what else I can find. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_roller_derby edit: apparently they still exist. http://www.derbyroster.com/banked.html RE: Roller Derby!! - LKTraz - 10-18-2014 The new roller derby just isn't the same as the old stuff. I saw the attempt to revive it in the 90's and THAT effort sucked. The current offering is a bit closer to the original but still lacks the raw simplicity of the roller derby of the 60's and 70's. I remember watching the Philadelphia Warriors when I was a kid. I even went to a couple matches at the 48th St Arena. Names like Buddy and Judy Atkinson and Jim Trotter bring back memories. The biggest rivals for Philly were the San Francisco team....the Bay Area Bombers with their toxic coach Lester (Squirrely) Quirrels. Ah....memories! |
