Remember my New Couches? - Twitchin Kitten - 12-19-2009 Remember when I got my really nice new furniture this year? I paid a lot of money for it from a supposedly reputable manufacturer - La-z-Boy. Here's my couches new: [attachment=244] By June or so I noticed a few things not quite right with the furniture. Every time I would tuck the covers in down the sides, I'd get cut with a sharp object and I'd hit my nails on some unpadded hunk of wood. On closer inspection I noticed the sides are not padded outside and inside and anyone passing by with a sharp object can cause a great tear in the fabric. Never mind the vacuum sucks the fabric so tight when cleaning because it's like grabbing loose material off the floor. I can stick my hand down the side and get under the springs. I see shoddy workmanship all over the place. The arms! I am getting bruised from the wood poking through the stuffing! Never mind they are not straight but 'wavy'. So I WENT to the showroom and got hold of my salesman who gave me the number of the repair service they use. I wasn't' in too much of a hurry because I thought the reputation of La-z-Boy would recognize these as defects like everyone else I know does, and fix this toot sweet. I managed to call in July and got an August appointment. John comes out and tells me some cock and bull story how there are straps holding the arms on and causing the dents I see across the top are normal and how the couch should wear. He also said there is the correct amount of fill by weight in the arms. Can someone explain to me how he can tell the weight of the fill by looking at it? And since when did they start selling couches by weight? Bullshit. He made a half assed report that they had do dig up when I returned a call in or around October 1st due to the same issues and the arms are worsening. I called my salesman and I emailed him these same pics. Here's a pic of the arms now: [attachment=245] So I couldn't get an appointment by yet another service tech until Dec 3. Ron comes out, agrees with me on the arms and the sides and then reports back that there is nothing wrong with the sofas! ![]() This guy did NOT touch the sofas in any way shape or form with his own hands too. I had to take the cushions off and show him. He only touched one spot where a sharp object is poking through one of the arms. Guess what I found yesterday? Another sharp object poking through on a different arm. I was told they are supposed to make the report within 3 days of seeing the furniture and I'll hear back. Guess what? I wound up having to call the store yesterday. My personal sales guy was now acting sketchy. He said I had to have another person call me back. Duane calls later. He insists there is nothing wrong with the structure of the furniture. NO FUCKING SHIT. I never questioned the integrity of the skeleton but I did say that same skeleton is not properly protected to not cause damage to my furniture. Now we went round and round several times on the phone where this POS wouldn't even answer a yes or no question. He just kept saying the same thing over and over and my temper kept climbing. I finally told him he should have been a politician because he's pretty damn good at avoiding any question I'm asking. I asked him how freakin' hard is it to say yes or no? I am asking a simple yes or no question and he STILL tells me some shit that has nothing to do with what I'm asking. Well I told him I want a lawyer if he's not going to understand the fabric is damaged. I told him to look at the picture I sent Rich and call me back. Guess who has not had a phone call yet? That's right, me. So, an hour goes by and I look up La-z-Boy online and find corporate. I get Kelly on the phone and tell her the whole story. She needs to call the store and report back to me. Well, within an hour she indeed reported back to me and she said Duane told her the same thing I told her (gee ya think?) but he also gave the lady one fat lie. He said he offered to re-stuff the arms and fix the other issues! NO FUCKING WAY DID HE SAY SUCH A THING and I told her so. I spent 15 minutes telling Kelly he's a bold faced liar and if this is what is representing La-z-Boy then they ought to throw their reputation down the gutter now because he's making you look bad. I also told her there is nothing lower on the face of the planet than a liar and if he were in my employ he'd be fired in a heartbeat because I can't trust a liar. You know you can trust a thief because you know they're going to steal from you but you never know what's up with a liar. Anyway, Kelly tells me that I need to call the store back and tell Duane to have my stuff fixed. Again, Bullshit. I asked Kelly for an email so I can send her the photos of the sofas. So last night I sent her photos and in the note I asked her to have that prick Duane call me and offer to fix my sofas. I don't think it's right for me to ask for something he so boldly lied to her about! Either way, this should have been on him to tell me from the beginning not some lie to HER. You know he only said that to her to cover his sorry ass because he never expected me to call corporate! Now I also found out that this showroom is one of their individually owned showrooms. Well, well, well - will corporate pay for his lawyer when I am forced to take this to court? And check out all the complaints that seem very similar to mine on this website: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/furniture/lazboy.html I will be filling out the forms depending on what ol' Duane is willing (or not) to do for me. Since it's kind of crappy out with this blizzard this weekend, I think we might hold off until things clear up and go into the showroom and ask for Duane in person and make a stink with a room full of people. RE: Remember my New Couches? - LKTraz - 12-19-2009 After reading some of those customer horror stories I think you should skip right on to the legal option. RE: Remember my New Couches? - Twitchin Kitten - 12-21-2009 Well, well, well guess who just called me? That's right, La-z-Boy's service guy. The one that came by the first time and said there was nothing wrong with the furniture. He's coming by after the holidays to re-stuff the arms on my sofas. So, let's see what gives when this clown comes on the 6th. I should put a hidden camera in the house for the ordeal! RE: Remember my New Couches? - LKTraz - 12-21-2009 Sounds like a good idea Twitch. If nothing else, is your computer where it can "see" the couch? If so a webcam aimed properly can film a considerable amount of footage without most people even realizing it's even there much less on! RE: Remember my New Couches? - Twitchin Kitten - 12-22-2009 No, computer is in it's own room but remember, Matt's in this business.... surveillance and security. ![]() This guy wanted to come tomorrow too.... are you kidding? What if something went wrong and left me with no sofas? I need to find thick heavy cardboard - the kind that feels like wood to 'hand' him to put down the sides when he has it open. You know, just in case he has no intention of doing this and didn't bring the proper material for a complete job. Any idea where to find that stuff? RE: Remember my New Couches? - Twitchin Kitten - 01-05-2010 Well, tomorrow's the day they come for the couches! Needless to say I'm going to be on a mad cleaning spree to make sure nothing is in his way for this shit. I got stuff crammed into the living room from the nuclear green room for that monstronsity of a repair job! It's still a vacant empty room with us not knowing what we want to do there yet. Matt's too lazy to solidify a commitment from his friend to mud and tape the thing once we sheetrock it. RE: Remember my New Couches? - Twitchin Kitten - 01-06-2010 Satisfaction will be mine! Yes you heard me, I win! There was no repairing done today but more photos and the rep this time said there is definite damage to the couches. I had to call the main office, give some info and will keep on these fuckers until my sofas are nice again. RE: Remember my New Couches? - Jilly - 01-06-2010 Good girl !!!! Keep at it !!! could you insist they be replaced ?....Or is it too far down the line ? RE: Remember my New Couches? - Twitchin Kitten - 01-06-2010 They're going to repair them on the spot - the spot meaning my living room. They need to see what happens with corporate though. The fabric is damaged as you can see in the photo, but by now, they are damaged way more. So they're going to have to make sure they can find the same dye lot of material. He would have re-stuffed them today but the fabric made it a little different course of action. I'm kind of glad because of all the bullshit those bastards at the store were giving me telling me that's how the couch should wear without seeing it was pissing me off to no end! I am seriously thinking of starting a new business for myself - "I'll Get You Satisfaction" - I'll write letters, make phone calls etc on behalf of people who are too timid to push the right buttons and pester the right people to get whatever it is they are dissatisfied with sorted out by the right people. I managed to make the US Government do my bidding when I technically wasn't eligible for things. I got the state government to change laws all by myself. I got these pricks to give me what i need and a few other times I've gotten satisfaction where I probably shouldn't have or where others would eat shit and give up. RE: Remember my New Couches? - BarEdul - 01-06-2010 give em hell.... dont take their shit and keep pushing I have my fingers crossed for ya. |
