Fatal Crash on GWB - Twitchin Kitten - 06-12-2014 Jesus, they had to be picking that driver out with an eyedropper. What the hell was the back of that truck made of to smush a tractor so completely and not leave much of a dent on the rear? http://www.myfoxny.com/story/25757876/fatal-crash-backs-up-gw-bridge-traffic Take a look at the picture stream and the video. This thing tied up traffic well into the late morning. RE: Fatal Crash on GWB - Rhubarb - 06-12-2014 Oh how terribly sad. For the family, the haulage company and all those involved in the rescue. all the commuters must have been thrown out of routine for the whole day! RE: Fatal Crash on GWB - twisteroo - 06-12-2014 Wow, that tractor is fucked up. The other truck must have been full of lead weights or something. RE: Fatal Crash on GWB - Twitchin Kitten - 06-13-2014 Right Twist? I don't understand how the other truck hardly had damage. The dead guy must have been traveling real fast and slammed into a stopped or practically stopped vehicle to do that kind of damage. Tractors are fucking huge and heavy, unless they're making them with paper and no 'skeleton' for protection. RE: Fatal Crash on GWB - twisteroo - 06-13-2014 It is hard to really tell from that picture what's going on except that the tractor is crushed. I clicked the link and looked at all the pics they had, none of them are great shots but you can see as they pull the tractor away that it kinda punched in under the trailer and pushed the cab back off of the frame. I wonder how fast he was going and how much each of them weighed. RE: Fatal Crash on GWB - LKTraz - 06-13-2014 The trailer in front looks like normal damage for a hit at around 30 - 40 mph. They are now built with a very sturdy box section at the rear. Likely the air ride suspension helped absorb some energy too. The reason the tractor is so compressed is that it was a day cab and they are typically made lighter than the materials they make sleeper cabs with. If the trailer behind the day cab was loaded solid and heavy it explains why it is relativly undamaged and the cab mashed. RE: Fatal Crash on GWB - twisteroo - 06-13-2014 I guess that we are so used to hearing about bad accidents between trucks and cars and the truck drivers usually walk away. |
