Can he do it? - LKTraz - 05-17-2014 With the Kentucky Derby in his feedbag can California Chrome capture the second jewel in the crown? The experts are favoring it with only a few dissenting. Given his showing at the Derby and workout runs the past few days it's looking good for him. RE: Can he do it? - Twitchin Kitten - 05-17-2014 I'd like to see another triple crown winner. The race should be over now. Update? RE: Can he do it? - LKTraz - 05-17-2014 California Chrome now has 2 of the three jewels. 1 1/2 length victory and the jockey had him slightly pulled back the last 4 lengths of the race. He was very at ease after the race and looked like he was out for a walk in the park on his post race cool down. RE: Can he do it? - Twitchin Kitten - 05-17-2014 Awesome! RE: Can he do it? - Twitchin Kitten - 05-18-2014 Caught a rerun on the news this morning. Wish I was around a tv at race time. RE: Can he do it? - BarEdul - 05-18-2014 I am sure you can go to you tube and watch the race again! Check it out, LKTraz caught something even I MISSED during the first run.. That HORSE California Chrome.. actually sneaks a peek to see What is behind him and then pours it on to out run the other guy.. Almost like he said take that "YA FUCK!" I also called a near trifecta... I picked to Win California Chrome, Place or show.. General a rod and Social inclusion... I wanted California chrome #1 and #2 Social inclusion and #3 General A rod... In my review of the horses I had missed Curllin as being in the derby. OOOPS and I watched the Derby! I can't wait for Post time on the Belmont.. and the Wednesday before They will be listing gate position. I want to place a few dollar bet, no more than $10.00 on the winner, trifecta and the quinella. I have NEVER bet on a horse race and LOL the triple crown winner is a good way to lose my virginity. I can't wait to see the field... I have been watching the Triple crown races since I was a child and could read a news paper at 8 years old and have my mother read me dinosaur and horse stories at 5 years old. LOL I am originally from Maryland .. Technically making me a Southern Belle. and I was from Washington County MD.. good farming and horse country depending on where you stood in the state. All I can say is RUN you sweet Bastard! Knowing this horse's blood lines. Evaluating his build, legs and wind I expect this.. easy winner to run like hell June 7th and The Jockey to let him do it. If you watch the LAST 3 races this horse has been in you will realize that the jockey is HOLDING him at about 2 lengths win each race. These DAP people are old and crazy like foxes! They don't want to break him and injure him. They are saving this stallion for the Triple crown finisher and then they are gonna open him up and let him go! Bob Baffert is going to pay through the Nose for a single breeding from California Chrome and it's gonna piss off that man so MUCH! I love this the little guy, chormies are winning! RE: Can he do it? - LKTraz - 05-18-2014 Did you catch that Chrome took a quick glance back on the stretch? I have a feeling that Victor Espinoza will be cutting him loose coming out of the home stretch at Belmont and letting him go full bore. Remind you of another horse? I looked up the damsire on Chrome. Holy shit what a star studded list! http://www.pedigreequery.com/california+chrome Just a FEW notables in his lineage: Seattle Slew Northern Dancer Caro Attica Native Dancer Chambord Honest Pleasure AND SECRETARIAT Certainly not an also-ran pedigree in my book! California Chrome [attachment=2947] Seattle Slew [attachment=2949] Secretariat [attachment=2948] RE: Can he do it? - BarEdul - 05-18-2014 If you look at the chest width between the pictures.. You will see some certain similarities. For a quote.. "UGLY MARE" and a cheap ass "stud fee" of $2500 bucks, I do believe, that California Chrome has earned his Keep for a whopping breed cost of 10,500. I think the cool mil he had earned after the Derby is NOT too damn bad! RE: Can he do it? - BarEdul - 05-18-2014 ha ha there is a particular color trait to California Chrome and one of his forefathers.. Can you spot it? (And it's NOT his socks.) RE: Can he do it? - Twitchin Kitten - 05-19-2014 OK let's clear some things up. That horse did NOT look back to see who was near him. He couldn't. He had on 3/4 blinders. He'd have to turn his neck fully around to see that. Naturally horses can see behind them so often when you see blinders on them for a race, it means what's behind them is a distraction for them. He does NOT resemble Secretariat in any way! Secretariat was a freak. He had a larger than normal heart and he BREEZED through his races. His chest was clearly 6" or more wider than California Chrome's. When it comes to lineage, it's ALL on the Dam's side where the horse gets the good stuff. Your foal is 80% mom. Fact. I am also a firm believer that once it comes time to show what you got, it's all in the individual horse. They have to want it. Physical ability and genetics come into play respectively but with a very small, and I mean very small influence in the genetics. It's all the horse. He may not run the Belmont. Why? Because the trainer is a stupid schmuck who didn't do his homework regarding the rules of each race. He's been on TV whining like a bitch about not being able to use those nose flare strips in NY. Tough. NY rules are very tough and you can't even use wormer at a certain point before a race as it has been known to mask some chemicals. Nope, gotta run clean and the rules are for everyone. If they are so sure of their horse, they wouldn't be crying about the rules and let the him run and see what he's made of. And again, we will NEVER see the likes of a Secretariat again in our lifetime or for another 100 years I firmly believe. There has never been a horse who could run each quarter of a race faster than the one prior and win by 32 lengths and come up like he was breezing. I have Secretariat's race on video. I should really get it on DVD for myself to watch. I watch it live with my dad and it was a sight to behold. I say let him run. See what he's made of. I'd still like to see him take it but 1 1/2 miles is a long run and not many get to do it. We need another Triple Crown winner. Make this Lucky 13. |
