If you want to do some good for animals simply adopt the ones you can afford to adopt. The ASPCA and PETA kill more pets than they help statistically every year.

You apparently have not seen the Berg Animal Hospital in NYC.
ASPCA is headquartered in NYC and has been doing great work for animals since 1866. They won't take your money if you are poor and your animal needs help, but they will take money if you can afford it.
