A Black Box for Car Crashes - Twitchin Kitten - 07-22-2013

What do you guys think of this? I don't like it. Not. One. Bit.

It's predicted that it will be in all cars by Sept 2014.

I see the 'benefits' they 'think' they're getting out of this, but without my permission nor my own ability to access this info or this 'box', I want it out of my car.

Who the fuck does anyone think they are to monitor the way I drive?
How the hell am I not supposed to think these assholes don't have GPS in there already?

Help with accidents? Fuck that. Let the cops and insurance investigators DO THEIR OWN JOBS instead of being lazy and depending on an unreliable piece of equipment.

I may go out and buy an old car. Like 1970's old.

I agree, fuck them.
I'm gonna go cut the seat belts outta my truck too. Piss on them, they can't tell me what to do.

I'm sure there will be a way to disable it.

RE: A Black Box for Car Crashes - Twitchin Kitten - 07-22-2013

The article said something about Youtube videos showing how to disable it.

My seat belts sit across my throat and restrict my breathing. I connect them and sit on top of them.

Try sitting on a phone book.Haha

Lol twist I was thinking same thing. Alot of the newer cars the seat belts adjust quite a bit you should be able to adjust it to the height you need.

As far as these black boxes, you see the "progressive snap shot" commercials, the program progressive insurance runs is the same crap. They give people a little discount on their insurance to connect this module to their car and they are as happy as a pig in shit. Little do they realize progressive is learning loads from their driving habits and how fast they drive. I am sure government agencies can subpoena the data too if they need it for a crime investigation.

These good intention ideas are paving the way to evil shit.

Anthony, I know seat belts adjust. They just don't adjust enough.

Those Progressive commercials are the first thing I thought of when I read this article. Anyone allowing their insurance company to track and monitor them like that are flat out morons.

Quote:...Police had been “anxious to make an arrest” and did so quickly after an indictment was issued.

That right there - although the guy may very well have been guilty of racing, do / did they REALLY need that black box to figure that one out? Really?

That whole "anxious to make an arrest" is bothersome to me. How does anyone else know this is NOT biased evidence? Will it be used and proven that it is not? Does the defense get a chance to get their own experts to analyze the box?

See what I mean?

LOL it's cute, but it won't keep the strap from crossing my throat and restricting my breathing and blood flow to my head! I have one of those clips for the lap and it's useless too. I think it's because of the new style of seat belts vs the old style. The lap belt is NOT a fixed degree of tightness like they used to be. It's kind of opposite now where the mechanism that stops the belt from moving used to be at the floor where the lap belt fed from and now it's inside the wall where the chest piece comes from and the chest piece tightens on impact. it's really useless like that.
