That was then. Since 1990 they've more often than not pulled the shows if the person dies. The world has sadly changed. People are pussies anymore.

He didnt die, had he fallen off we would have just known he fell from footage from the horizontal angle camera but obviously they would not have shown him hitting the ground.

Dylan, the show was live. How could they pull the show if they were running it live? When his great grandfather fell they didn't show the splat on the street either. And they showed the fall over and over on TV in the pre-show bullshit. So if they show the old footage, they certainly will show him falling off. They also didn't mention a delay and they would if there was.
I watched it live. It was pretty hairy watching that rope bounce around and wiggle. He freaked out slightly at the beginning and had to sit a little way through again to stop the rope from swaying.

He is still a harness wearing pussy. I know he didn't wear one this time but Niagara Falls was a lot of shit. He should have wore buckets on his feet this time just to make up for the harness last time.
