You know you bought the right gifts when...... - LKTraz - 12-25-2012

This year we bought my daughter Max some gifts that support what she wants do do in life.

Max wants to attend college for culinary. With that, we are starting to get her some tools of the trade. Christmas is no exception here.

We got her these:

Next thing you know she used them to create this:

It just got done baking about 20 minutes ago and I had a sample from the fork she used to test it.
I wanna know what everybody else is having for desert cause I'm gonna grab that sucker and RUN!

Show her the cooking forum and tell her there are some amazing and challenging recipes in there. I love to cook as you know and I'd love to share recipes with her. If she wants an account I'll hook her up too.

OMFG!!!!!!!!!

We just had some of that desert that Max made and all I can say is.......this is sin in a baking dish! Party

It's the most delicious desert I have EVER eaten! And I'm not just saying that because she's my daughter......this is really the most delicious desert EVER!

This is her original recipe too. If it's any indication of how she'll progress as a cook then my waistline is in serious trouble. Rolleyes

When there is a talent and enthusiasm she will go far!

I hadn't got a clue what that first photo was so before I went further and I showed it to Mark and he laughed 'A potato crinkler'
He approves totally of what Max produced with it too- wants to know when does she start college?

He has been making pies all day, I've been busy with sandpaper and an oily rag on the woodwork in the hallway

Yes it is indeed a potato slicer! Max is already plotting about even more alternate uses for it.

She needs to finish high school first. She's just 14.

That was the same age as Marks 'little sister' started taking an interest in cooking.

She went to the local college which is very highly acclaimed and did a couple of work experiences in 4 star hotels locally, in Bath and Southampton. She then got a 6 month visa to work in a restaurant in Brisbane, where through friends met her husband.
She then worked in Amsterdam in a wonderful coffee shop making and selling cakes pies and tarts for ten years.
Now a mum she is Head Chef at an Organically friendly cafe back in Queensland in the Glass House Mountains.
She owns a Pineapple farm now and helps another English friend (her ex-boyfriend who got her the job in Australia, and his brother) process Cider.

So you may well have a very busy daughter!
