Shark Week 2012 - LKTraz - 07-18-2012 Reading the mermaid thread reminded me of this. It starts August 12th. They are saying that they have 6 new shows for it this year. Well I hope so. I've been watching it since it started 25 years ago and there have been few new shows featured over the last couple of years. Gets really old watching the same old shit over and over. Does anyone else watch it? I haven't been able to afford it for a few years but I do enjoy going shark fishing. I'm a catch and release angler. I simply enjoy the fight! Now I will keep one occasionally IF it's a decent size and tasty variety. I absolutely will not keep one that isn't well large enough to have been of breeding age for a few seasons. Dusky (brown), Blue and Sandy sharks give quite a decent fight. I have yet to hook into a Thresher but would love to. Makos are batshit nuts and do all kinds of aerobatics when they are on the line. I had one that was breaching and doing back flips beside the line and it wasn't even hooked nor had it so much as touched the bait! There are very occasional sightings of Whites and on one trip I took a boat about 2000 feet from mine had a 300 lb white hooked. My Captain cruised on over and we took a look at it before they released it. RE: Shark Week 2012 - Twitchin Kitten - 07-18-2012 Twitchy does not watch shark week! Too many sharks off the beach here already and ever since Matt walked across one's back 10 years ago, I haven't been in the water since. Not past my knees anyway. |
