Lilyhammer - Twilla - 02-09-2012
New and exclusively on netflix streaming. It's got Steven Van Zandt kinda/sorta reprising his role from "The Sopranos" as an Italian mobster that gets witness protection relocation in Norway, of all places.
The first episode was entertaining but mildly awkward since it shifted abruptly from comedy to some rather adult themes. Three animal deaths as well, which might not bother some people but seemed a little excessive to me.
Van Zandt is a delight as usual and the culture clash is fun and interesting.
Lots of subtitles since the majority of the cast are speaking their native Norwegian.

Are the subtitles easy to read? I'm finding too many times they format them horribly on the screen and it's a real chore to see them clearly against the background they're on.

I'm watching on my laptop and the subtitles are bright and clear. No white letters against snow or anything. They throw some spoken English in as well so it's not hard to follow.
It's funny to hear the bad language in this, I guess Norway isn't nearly as uptight as the US is about it.

It seems to be a made for Netflix production and I gotta say, it's pretty damn good. Funny as hell too.
After he testifies against a Mafia boss, ex-gangster Frank Tagliano enters the witness protection program and asks to be sent to Norway. Despite the peaceful surroundings, it's not long before Frank strays from the straight and narrow.

Try looking it up in the search. And get Netflix. You can watch on your phone too.

I totally forgot about you posting this! I merged the threads so it isn't split up all over the place.
We just finished it. I loved it. Not sure by the ending if there is going to be a part two. I hope there is. The animal deaths aren't so bad since you really didn't see it happening. It's fun and quirky and you laugh - well more like chuckle -the whole way through.
