...that you shouldn't have fucked with? That's me." - Grand Torino

Quote:The man was cycling on a trail in Reading, Pa., shortly before 11:00 am local time Wednesday morning, when a group of teens pushed him off the bicycle and two of them assaulted him, investigators said.

The 65 year old then took out a handgun and shot them both, the Reading Eagle reported.

One of the teens -- a 16 year old from Reading -- was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:17 p.m. local time.

Stupid little pricks shouldn't have pushed him over, then proceed assault and rob him. Thank God one won't pass his genes on.

Overall though, it's a story with a happy ending. Smile

I saw this one. Warmed the cockles of my heart. Or it would have if I had a heart...

Good! The little scumwaffle won't get the chance to fuck with anyone else. I hope all the other pieces of human refuse take heed and learn.

PA recently loosened the laws regarding self defense so that if you can show that you felt you were genuinely threatened you don't have to wait untill you are assaulted to act. This is just the sort of situation that falls into the new category and so I expect that it will be ruled as a justifiable shooting and therefore the old guy will have no charges.

RE: "You know that guy you sometimes meet.... - Twitchin Kitten - 01-27-2012

Well, he was already assaulted so that new law has nothing to do with it if he was able to protect himself in such a situation already.

Am I the only one that feels sad that things have come to this?

RE: "You know that guy you sometimes meet.... - Twitchin Kitten - 01-27-2012

not really.

Out here there are a lot of homeless living in the woods behind some of the shopping plazas here. Kids go out "bum hunting" just to beat them up for sport. Pretty fucked up IMO. We weren't angels, but we did nothing like the violence among kids you see these days.

You'll see more of it as society goes further into the regressive phase. America is really in for a hard awakening when the future generations come to full maturity.

Those kids are going to find bum hunting to be a dangerous sport in some places...all it takes is some homeless guy with a cheap .38 putting a hole in one to kind of kill the playoffs.

Anyhow, in the meantime, we'll just keep shooting the serious offenders like these fucking punks, well, at least in most states..

RE: "You know that guy you sometimes meet.... - LKTraz - 01-28-2012

Yes he was already assaulted but in the absence of the looser new law he would have had to let them pretty much get done mugging him before he could have used forceful measures. Now the law allows for one to use forceful measures if you can reasonably show a real potential threat. Deadly force is included in the new law where before you REALLY had to have some specific circumstances before you could shoot.

Under the old law you had to have someone actually break into your home and you had to shoot them INSIDE of it to have a justifiable shoot. As well, you couldn't shoot them unless they were fully facing you and damn sure not in the back!

Now you can be anywhere including in public and have grounds for proving justification. Shooting them in the back (indicating they were fleeing) is still somewhat questionable but not excluded from justification.

RE: "You know that guy you sometimes meet.... - Gunnen4u - 01-28-2012

Shooting them as they flee is a no-no in most places (you'll go to jail too). Yet, say they were shooting at you while running away - then it's still a deadly threat and shooting them while in the act isn't a problem in all likelihood.

Anyhow, I am glad the folks in PA have managed to come out of the dark ages and join most of the US.

RE: "You know that guy you sometimes meet.... - LKTraz - 01-28-2012

Non-fatally wounding them while in the act of fleeing is not likely to be punishable but fatal shots can be. It's really judged on a case by case basis as it stands right now. I'm sure that some standards will be set as time goes by and more cases are reviewed.

PA has always had laws that were less restrictive than many other places but the latest revisions are a little clearer about what is and isn't kosher and broader in what is allowed.

The revisions are a direct result of the upsurge of on street muggings and robberies in Harrisburg. Pretty much, Harrisburg cops begged the legislature to allow citizens more latitude in defending them selves and congress responded.

I have a good situation being as I have my property clearly posted no trespassing. My local police chief told me that if I drop someone on my property after due warning that they are trespassing (3 distinct warnings) that I'm good to go.

I'll be following this case in Reading to see what results.
