Companies want to censor our interwebs. - Vizth Hal - 01-11-2012 So whos hears about SOPA? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Online_Piracy_Act http://sopatrack.com/ http://gizmodo.com/5868912/sopa-delayed-indefinitely-but-far-from-dead?tag=sopa http://gizmodo.com/sopa/ As best as i understand this it will allow companies (namely our best friends the mpaa and riaa) to censor websites they feel are infringing on they're stuff. But this'll get abused to the point of stupidity. My advise folks is start learning how to use TOR. the wiki article is the most nonbiased view i.ve found on this. the gizmodo links kinda say what else this can be used for. aside from that feel free to post any links you find. ok i think i may be a bit behind here. this might be sopa's replacement still sounds just as bad tho. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protect_IP_Act http://www.sdcitybeat.com/sandiego/article-10012-pipa-is-the-new-sopa.html http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/11/reddit-blackout-sopa-pipa-protest_n_1198740.html http://www.webpronews.com/mozilla-renews-call-against-sopapipa-2011-11 all these links were found on short order and i haven't digested them all yet. if you fond any feel free to post RE: Companies want to censor our interwebs. - Twitchin Kitten - 01-14-2012 Craigslist is another target of these things. Went there today looking to surf around and they have lots of info for you. http://www.craigslist.org/about/SOPA Write letters people. RE: Companies want to censor our interwebs. - Twitchin Kitten - 01-14-2012 Find where your congressman stands on this: http://projects.propublica.org/sopa/ RE: Companies want to censor our interwebs. - Twitchin Kitten - 01-17-2012 Should TK go dark for twelve hours? http://sopastrike.com/ RE: Companies want to censor our interwebs. - Twitchin Kitten - 01-17-2012 Sign the petition http://fightforthefuture.org/pipa RE: Companies want to censor our interwebs. - Twitchin Kitten - 01-17-2012 And another good link where you can send your messages http://americancensorship.org/ RE: Companies want to censor our interwebs. - Twitchin Kitten - 01-17-2012 Maybe just a big fat header above the normal TK header/logo with links to all the stuff mentioned here? Do you people really care enough to bother and I should just ignore this? RE: Companies want to censor our interwebs. - Vizth Hal - 01-17-2012 I say put the header up, as for going dark we don't have a big enough population really. RE: Companies want to censor our interwebs. - Twitchin Kitten - 01-17-2012 yeah, i was thinking the same thing. RE: Companies want to censor our interwebs. - Twitchin Kitten - 01-17-2012 OK I got my header code ready for tomorrow. Just going to put something up at the top that is really hard to miss. This way the site is still open and anyone wishing to keep their porn and torrent sites working forever can use the links to write letters and call congressmen. The assholes in NJ are most likely going to say yes. I know Menendez will definitely - last time I checked the others were unknown. |
