Off to Uni - Rhubarb - 09-22-2011

Just me and the boss at work this week.
His son is about to go to medical school which will be a minimum of 5 years.

My son is in his final year at college, day release, in Aerospace engineering.

I said at tea break that Phil is looking to leave home as his apprenticeship is almost complete, that the housekeeping money from him will be missed. He has had a pay rise in line with his age to, so his wages are almost full pay.

Long pause.
David had a thought
'You get paid by your son to live at home. I'm about to pay my son's rent for the next 5 years to keep him away from home. I'm paying for his tuition and all his equipment.'

Apprentices get the tuition fees and all equipment already paid for, by the company.
I pointed out that when Cameron qualified he will be able to pay his dad back with 'second opinions' and will afford a decent nursing home for him in his old age.

'Thank's for your wisdom, Trudi'

I'm putting a Student Emergency Pack together, like I always do for Marks neices and nephews.
It includes,
pens paper, postage stamps, beer money
Baked Beans, Pot Noodle, tinned English Breakfast (dreadful stuff)
'ice-breakers' chocolate, lollipops, coffee, tea, a balloon helicopter (well you never know) tinopener and beercan opener.

I thought about the condoms, paracetamol and Pro-plus, but after the hell I got from my brother-in-law when Marks nephew went off yo Uni, and Cameron is doing medicine (and his Dad is a Pharmacist) I think.......maybe.

Well that is it Book Cam' is settled into Bristol Medical school.

He came into the shop and gave me a big hug and told me I was the only person to give him a leaving present besides his parents and little sister. Hattie had given him a framed photo of herself Giggle

Spoke to his mother today. She said his room is really small but well planned out for all the things he needed for his next 2 years. She said he had opened the emergency student pack to see what I had put in it. Thrilled with the baked beans (and the beer money). Then carefully put the lid back on stored it under his bed with the 'pull tab' in view

He is a really nice lad I hope he does well. He talked about being a paediatrician and I can see him being really good with kids, he helped at a local school for disabled children.
His cousin has just got a place for herself as a position to train as an anesthetist and he already said he doesn't want to do that, keeping drunks alive from alcohol poisoning Barf

You should have at least found some extra-extra, small condoms for a joke.

We have a great selection of finger stalls and people often ask if they are for pets!
