Car Wax? - Twitchin Kitten - 08-30-2011 Ok so today I detailed my car. I mean full shebang. Being this is the first white car I ever owned, I found white wax on a white car is damn near impossible to see. Is there any colored wax that will go on and leave the car white? I've never had to shop for this kind of stuff. I'm thinking a blue or green color to the wax would help me see it to get it off but I don't want a blue or green tint when the light hits it. I also found that this car has been keyed in the past. Gotta get into the body shop and see how much this is going to cost me to get it rubbed out. Whoever did it originally stunk at it. My windshield sucks. It is sparkling clean now. I can see tiny specks all over it though. It looks as if someone sand blasted it and there's tiny specks nicked into the glass. WTF? RE: Car Wax? - LKTraz - 08-31-2011 Rain Dance has a wax in blue. Wax Shop used to have paste wax in a beige color but I don't know if it's still available. I like Racer's Edge finish products personally. The liquid wax dries with a slightly grey tint. Best damn wax I've ever used. It's a mostly unknown product line outside of custom car/boat/bike shows and racing circles. http://www.racersedgeproducts.com/ As far as the glass, that can come from simply parking the car in a dusty area with wind. Our trucks end up with "sand blasted" windshields due to our unpaved parking lot and breezy conditions at the shop. The only answer to that one is a new windshield. RE: Car Wax? - Twitchin Kitten - 08-31-2011 May wind up with a new windshield anyway. There is an old repair that is coming apart and starting to spider outside the repair. Ford gave me 6 months on it to break. Sitting in the blazing sun in my driveway may get me my new windshield.
RE: Car Wax? - LKTraz - 08-31-2011 Let it get hot as all hell then toss some ice water on it! "Yeah....it was just sitting in the driveway and when I came out the crack was there. Honest!"
RE: Car Wax? - Twitchin Kitten - 08-31-2011 Now that's a good idea! I'll give it a couple weeks and try it ![]() I threatened them that all I have to do is punch it too. I can get my finger in under the epoxy that's there now. It won't be long before it fouls all by itself. RE: Car Wax? - twisteroo - 08-31-2011 I dunno about anywhere else but in NY our comprehensive, or maybe collision coverage pays for glass with no deductible. That means that pretty much no questions are asked, you call the insurance company, they tell you to go get it fixed, the guy at the body shop sends in the bill. The body shop guy could care less if you are just to lazy to clean it and want a new one. RE: Car Wax? - Twitchin Kitten - 08-31-2011 Not here. It has to be broken. I can't just say I don't like how it 'glitters" on me. I already called them up and I think I have a $250 or $500 deductible on it too. I need to call them tomorrow and look into it more. RE: Car Wax? - twisteroo - 09-01-2011 Yeah, in NY they don't want you driving around with a fucked up windshield because you can't pay a deductible, so it's a law or something. One of the very few things that this state ever did right. |
