Longwood Gardens - LKTraz - 07-13-2011 On the way home from my brother's house we took a side trip to Longwood Gardens. It's just a few miles out of the way and I hadn't been there since I was about 12 years old. I've been wanting to take the family there for a while now and took advantage of the opportunity. It's really affordable at $18 per adult and $8 for students. There's several different sections of this botanical garden and we didn't get to all of them. Guess that means we'll have to go back ![]() A few of the pics: Eye of Water ![]() Bird of Paradise ![]() Topiary Chicken ![]() Just a small sample of what we saw. I took LOTS of pics and I also had to resize these 3 as copies to not blow out the frame here. To see all 148 pics click the link and then select slide show. These 3 are duplicated but in a larger size so you'll see them twice. LK's Longwood Gardens photos RE: Longwood Gardens - Twitchin Kitten - 07-13-2011 LK, I have a plugin that will auto resize big images for you. No need to chop them down next time. Save some hassle! The eye of water is really cool looking! If I were one to do those water garden things, I can think up a mess of oddball stuff to make and fabricate it so water flows through! RE: Longwood Gardens - LKTraz - 07-15-2011 A few more samples of interesting flora. Dawn Redwood ![]() The conservatory garden east entry ![]() This hall is the restrooms. It extends in a curve about 300 feet and the walls are covered with greens. The right side is nothing but plants except for the last 20 feet which also has restrooms. ![]() These floating water lillies are a hybrid developed by Longwood Gardens. ![]() ![]() RE: Longwood Gardens - Twitchin Kitten - 07-15-2011 I was ogling that redwood browsing your photobucket album. Those are the cans, huh? Very pleasing! I thought those doors were leads to other areas of botany. |
