Check out this story published today on Yahoo News.

Man robs bank to get medical care

I'm not so sure that this guy is an asshole as much as supremely desperate.

I guess we know how that "Hope and Change" is working out for this guy!!!!!!!

You know, all he had to do was hit any hospital and ask for charity care and he'd be taken care of.

Herein lies a problem with society as a whole today......there are those who think that the government needs to take care of us because we have "rights" to certain things and then those who are to proud to "accept charity".

Oddly, both of these attitudes are bred from the same notion. By fostering the idea that "Uncle Sam" will take care of us the truly charitable acts become less and less noticeable as time goes by. Eventually true charity is viewed as something dirty so therefore those who have traditionally stood on their own won't accept it. As well the knowledge that there is help for the asking WITHOUT government intervention becomes pushed into obscurity.

This man may not even have known that such charitable care even existed.

Every hospital has signs all over the place saying they cannot refuse anyone for medical care for any reason. I am pretty sure this also includes private hospitals as well.

IMO, charity from a private entity or Uncle Sam are one and the same.

The only rights we are entitled to by the government is the right to stay safe and free and to pursue our own happiness.

I suppose he was afraid of the receptionist asking how he intended to pay for treatment?

I know when my Aunt took us to her doctor for No1 son when we were visiting that was the first thing that was asked, not for who or for why we were there. She didn't like it when I said I wanted receipts and I would claim when we got home to England.

England will pay his medical bills incurred overseas?
