Cropsey - Twitchin Kitten - 01-31-2011

Watched this yesterday. You should have mentioned this was a story about the Andre Rand case! I remember all of it well. My friend Bobby was on one of the search teams looking for those kids too. I think he was there when they busted him.

Looking back now, the movie jarred my memory - it wasn't Willowbrook that Doris and I waded through the needles but it was the old TB ward in Seaview Hospital and 'farm colony'. they went through the same hole in the fence we lead our horses through!
I had no idea about the tunnels under Willowbrook though! We did have to ride through the grounds for a way and we never noticed anything "weird" other than the place was always creepy quiet and you never saw a soul, not even to chase us off the grounds.

How about the clips from Geraldo's video? Pretty horrifying.

Yeah, I saw those clips when he originally broke that story.
He recently had a bit of an 'anniversary' regarding breaking that story and what's become of many of the residents there. He still keeps in touch with one of them and they were on the TV with him. Their mentality was of low intellect but in no way in need of being locked up away from society. He seemed a very pleasant person and one who would actually be fun company. I think it was the one person who he actually talked to while in there. The guy was lucid and intelligent enough that when asked what it was like being in there he replied, "It's Hell. This place is Hell." Very sad.

I can't even begin to describe the creepy feeling when Doris and I went through that building in Seaview Hospital.

Today, homes and condos stand on the grounds where Willowbrook was. Next time we go through Staten Island, I'll try to go past and stop and take pictures of what's there now. Maybe in the summer I'll go up specifically for some stuff like that.
