Surveillance - Twitchin Kitten - 01-19-2011

If you are into mind-fucks from David Lynch, then this from his daughter Jennifer Chambers Lynch will certainly satisfy! We had to catch our breath and straighten our heads after this was over! And, as in true Lynch style, you must pay attention throughout. She certainly inherited her father's talent.

I started watching it but it annoyed me for some reason and I usually love Bill Pullman.

Another show that got rave reviews that I'm having to force myself to watch is Mad Men. Dull, dull, dull and I don't think Jon Hamm is all that good looking considering the attention he gets.

Maybe I'm just getting impatient and cranky in my old age.

I do like David Lynch. Very twisted. Will check it out.

Surveillance jumped right into the twisted sick shit from the get go. I don't know what could have annoyed you!

We tried Mad Men and couldn't get past the first five minutes. Dull like you said, Twilla.

RE: Surveillance - Twilla - 01-19-2011

I'll give it another try.

RE: Surveillance - Twilla - 01-20-2011

So, I watched this last night and... meh. It was entertaining enough in a kind of self-conscious, watered down imitation of her father's bizarro style, but I had already figured out halfway through what the deal was. And god knows I've got no room to talk but WTF happened to Bill Pullman? Poor guy's head was so puffy, he didn't even look like himself anymore. I'm not sure if he was the right choice for the part either.

I had this in my queue forever but I kept putting off watching it for some reason. Another one I finally got around to watching was a documentary called "Cropsey" that TK might be familiar with... I guess it's a fairly well known urban legend that took on a life of its own... literally.

Oh I never heard of that one nor it's story! I'm going to rent it.

Watching the trailer I saw all the abandoned buildings from the old Willowbrook facility. I used to live on the other side of the woods from it and we used to ride horses through the property. One day Doris and I decided to go into the buildings and explore. Crap, there were needles all over the place. The kind you had to put in the autoclave and reuse over and over again. We were literally on a carpet of them. We did dig up a whole mess of nice wool blankets and we carried off as many as we could tie to the saddles. They were great barn blankets. Too bad I didn't save any. They were stamped Willowbrook State Hospital on them. I could sell them for a fortune each on Ebay.

The place was creepy. This was shortly after Giraldo Rivera's piece on the abuses and fucked up treatment of the kids housed there. When it was open and we rode through it was creepy enough. You never saw anyone outside, not even staff. There was also a building there that was never spoken of. I only found out about it because the boss I had at the time said he had a friend (I forget the relation to him) whose kid was in there. The place housed the freaks of nature and once you sign your kid/family member over, you don't see them again. These were true freaks.... two headed kids, freaks who managed to stay alive despite the deformity. Rumor has it Giraldo opened up a can of worms there too that they were doing Nazi type experiments on these people.

RE: Surveillance - Twilla - 01-21-2011

They had a few clips from the Geraldo video... I cried every time they showed it. The torment those people went through and I think they said at one point they had 13,000 "patients" in there. Jesus Christ, what a nightmare.

RE: Surveillance - Twitchin Kitten - 01-21-2011

Now why did my spell check tell me I spelled Geraldo wrong and corrected it to Giraldo? Bastards.... I knew I had it right.

I checked it later last night when I got home.

RE: Surveillance - Jamminitin - 01-21-2011

I added Cropsey to my Netflix list.
