Does this look like a bobcat to you? - Twilla - 11-26-2010 A guy at another forum posted about a killer bobcat in his neighborhood that finally got killed... by a car... and he took a photo of the corpse. I mentioned that it had an awfully long tail for a bobcat but he's insisting that's what it is. Yeah, okay. At least he's not claiming it's a mountain lion. RE: Does this look like a bobcat to you? - Twitchin Kitten - 11-26-2010 That is absolutely NOT a bobcat. That is someone's kitty. The paws alone do not say bobcat and the tail on a bobcat in tiny and curled. No, the guy is an idiot and bobcats are not "killers" anyway. Their main diet is mice and other small woodland critters like chipmunks. RE: Does this look like a bobcat to you? - Twilla - 11-26-2010 You've gotta read this thread: http://popforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=103429&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Now someone else is trying to claim it looks like a feral cat and I said he was too fat and was probably someone's pet. He came back with "maybe he just ate a puppy." LMAO can you believe that? He was serious, too. RE: Does this look like a bobcat to you? - Twitchin Kitten - 11-26-2010 99% of those posters are idiots. OK your pic was a Lynx, which is not indigenous to his area (i'm assuming Texas due to his name on the board) and either way, it's NOT a bobcat. Both species weigh in at about 66 pounds lean. I've never seen a fat wild bobcat. Zoo kept, yes. that cat's coat is wrong in every way possible and the paws for either species are TOO SMALL. Unless there are absolutely NO wooded areas left by him, that cat will NOT terrorize the neighborhood. Cats, even feral domestic breeds will take the time to stay as concealed as possible if the conditions allow. If there is a wooded area of anything over two acres, the wild cats (except for puma) will hunt small game and not stalk the neighborhood. Let's see if the dumb ass says children were terrorized. That would be a laugh. I've come face to face with bobcat plenty of times and they don't stay long enough for me to get a good long look at them. They prefer solitude. The biggest thing either species of cat eats is a wild hare or rabbit. Cats are the least likely critter to go hunting his foofy little Papillon. As for that poor house-cat who got killed, it's NOT fat from "just eating a puppy (rabbit , gofer, possum, or anything else their wild imagination can conjure)" but his physique is well rounded ALL OVER HIS BODY EVENLY. He's someone's cat. RE: Does this look like a bobcat to you? - Twitchin Kitten - 11-26-2010 OK just refreshed.... tell him he's a moron on the size of the feet. I've seen a bobcat UP CLOSE.... really close at the Philadelphia zoo and it's feet are HUGE. My source of info for the above is from my encyclopedia on carnivores. RE: Does this look like a bobcat to you? - Twitchin Kitten - 11-26-2010 tell him it was pretty convenient he took the photo from behind omitting the animal's face. RE: Does this look like a bobcat to you? - Twilla - 11-26-2010 He put another photo up with his shoe in the frame so you can see how big the cat is... unfortunately the cat is now as flat as a pancake from being out in the road all day. Another person is now asking why it's got a raccoon tail. Dear god. RE: Does this look like a bobcat to you? - Twitchin Kitten - 11-26-2010 Dear god is right. The man is a moron. HALF his shoe - I got up to the pic and didn't go to page 5 - the man is thick, I can safely predict the conversation from the photo forward. IT'S A DOMESTIC CAT. The man is dense. everyone is jumping on him for it yet he continues to carry on with his ignorance. Tell him for me that I hope the damn "bobcat" that didn't get hit eats his foofy little dog just to spite his stupidity. Tell him not to worry, the dog won't suffer much as cats are swift in their killing. RE: Does this look like a bobcat to you? - LKTraz - 11-27-2010 Good grief! That is plainly a felis domesticus. From the physique and the fact that you can see his fuzzy little nuts, I think this was somebody's older, lazy tomcat. Looks like the poor old guy had an incident or two with his tail in his lifetime. We have a pair of mountain lions in the area and they don't bother anyone. They are actually a bit too used to dogs as they sat with one of the neighbors pooches like they were having a few brews and laughs together one afternoon a few years back. They used to pal around with a couple of our dogs when we lived just down the road. I often found their tracks in the snow right past my car. I haven't seen them for a while now so I don't know if they passed on or migrated to a different patch of woods. The idiot who posted that pic wouldn't know a "big" cat if it was humping his leg! RE: Does this look like a bobcat to you? - Twilla - 11-27-2010 I wasn't sure if he was actually trying to defend his stupid post or if he was just joking around with that shoe photo. Except for the obvious Tabby tail, the poor thing wasn't recognizable as an animal anymore. |
