Casey's mastectomy - obycencio - 09-22-2010

Yesterday Casey, my 10 yo keeshond, got a lot of tumors out of her body. It was horrible. Only one was visible but it turned out that her whole glands were infested with tumors... now she's at the hospital because the skin didn't cover the whole wound. She has a 10x5 cm open wound right on her chest... my poor baby!
It also seems that the vet who did the first op didn't remove the whole thing, that's why it happened a second time. I was terribly sad for her and now I feel like it was my fault to believe everything was OK and she was healthy again...
I hope it works this time!Sorry

Oh I'm so sorry Glo. Hug I know Casey will be fine once they get everything out and cleaned up. With your care she'll pull through just fine.

Keep us posted on her progress.

I saw Casey yesterday and she was not happy about staying at the hospital, but thereĀ“s no way I can take her home with all the things she needs right now. She was up and waving her tail at us. I felt a little better because she seems to be a little less miserable...
We spent a lot of time there and she ate again, which is good. I'll go to the hospital tonight again.
Thank you for your good wishes!

Sounds like she's doing well regardless that she's in the hospital. It's nice they let you there to spend time with her and that helps in her recovery and wanting to eat.

Did the vet say they got all the tumors out and everything should be OK now?

RE: Casey's mastectomy - obycencio - 09-23-2010

All the tumors are gone, but we need to know if it's cancer or not :S. They are testing them and we'll have the results next week. Sad
