Mikki's vet visit *WARNING* Gross barf pics - Twitchin Kitten - 09-07-2010 So, $275 later, a mess of pills for her and Goliath and more to come tomorrow night (she is sneaking them to me at the emergency clinic ) Mikki will be worm and infection free. She's got a massive infection in both ears. Although it isn't stinky, she said the infection is deep down there. I got ripped off the meds for the ears though. It's non prescription at $7.99 online but I was charged $37.99 for it! I will be griping about that later! That's just way too much of a markup. We think she's spayed too. That's a bonus! Now the trick is getting that pill down her throat for the worms. I tried, she bit it in 3 and now I gotta figure I'll get it down in her dinner later. If not, I'm screwed. RE: Mikki's vet visit - Rhubarb - 09-07-2010 Your screwed- have you read the Unalterated Cat? It explains how to get medicine into a cat eventually. RE: Mikki's vet visit - twisteroo - 09-07-2010 You got a pill pusher? RE: Mikki's vet visit - Vizth Hal - 09-07-2010 turkey baster, tuna juice, and the pill. suck up tuna with baster put pill in tip stick in cats mouth. RE: Mikki's vet visit - Twitchin Kitten - 09-07-2010 I wasted a pill. I have a pill pusher, that's how she bit it in 3. I melted the pill, mixed it in with her dinner and she turned her nose up at it. I gotta buy another $12 pill tomorrow I think. I wish they made this stuff in liquid form. It's much easier. Trudi, no I have not read that. RE: Mikki's vet visit - twisteroo - 09-08-2010 That pill pusher has a rubber tip on it for a reason, you gotta jam it halfway down her throat and then they have no choice. Actually, it's tough, I mean you think you are gonna hurt them but you gotta put it back in there further than you think. It gets me watching the vet give them pills, 1, 2, 3, gulp and it's done. Yeah, if it were only that easy. They also say the worm pills taste like shit, I've seen the vet give them some kind of paste afterwards just to get the taste outta their mouth. That would be why you can't fool them with the pill in the food trick. I had a dog one time, if she needed a pill I'd just hand it to her and she's gulp it down, dumb dog. She's eat anything I gave her. She'd even go raid the garden with me. Oh yeah...when I took Scruffy in they just gave him the Revolution flea drop on his neck, said it would take care of fleas, ticks, ear mites, worms, painful rectal itch, make his teeth whiter, his coat shinier, his sheets cleaner, his fur smell like roses, his engine run cleaner, and cure the common cold. I wonder if the shit will really take care of worms? RE: Mikki's vet visit - Twitchin Kitten - 09-08-2010 Yeah, I think I'm going to ask her for the Revolution this time. Shit's expensive, $107 for a 7 month supply PER cat. But right now, I'll take it for all of them just to not shove pills down or waste food and drugs like this. I KNOW how to use the piller. Have been getting pills down animal throats successfully since I was a kid. This bitch just didn't want that thing in her mouth. Sofie ate the doped up food. So, I didn't really waste anything. I'm sure the vet will holler at me for doing that but I wasn't going to waste a $12 pill. RE: Mikki's vet visit - LKTraz - 09-08-2010 So don't tell the vet! RE: Mikki's vet visit - Twitchin Kitten - 09-08-2010 I spoke to the vet this morning. I ordered 7 doses of that Revolution stuff. It's going to take care of every cat in the house with one to spare. The pills worked on Sofie. She barfed up a ton of roundworms onto the office chair wheel. Now she's a ravenous little thing and she's become extra playful today. I guess getting a belly full of worms out of you is one of those 'feel good' feelings! Vet said it's OK she got the pill instead of Mikki. Mikki is off her food today. I think that's more why she didn't eat the doped up food than the taste. I think the stress of traveling and the vet put her off. She really wasn't ready for this trip but the infection in the ears and the massive worm infestation in her warranted pushing her a little. She'll eat when she's hungry enough. RE: Mikki's vet visit - Twitchin Kitten - 09-08-2010 I took a picture of the worm vomit if anyone wants to see it. |
