Opossum! - Twitchin Kitten - 08-06-2010

Tonight Matt saved the life of our yard opossum. He let Daisy out for 'last call' and she charged at something. Good thing the training works!

"DAISY! SIT"

Daisy sits and Matt retrieves her. He sees a big fat 'possum on the dog pen fence!

He calls me out and I decide he needs some food. Biggrin

I bring out a piece of lamb and got right up to it! I mean right up. I left the meat on the fence top 4 inches from his face.

Went back to the stairs and sat with Matt for a few and when he was comfy, he ate the meat. So, of course he needed dessert! I brought out two chunks of cantaloupe. Left those 4 inches from his face too.

It was pretty damn cool walking right up to it like that.

He was probably set to attack and rip your face off. Tomorrow he will be tipping over your garbage cans looking for food, and the next day he will tunnel into your kitchen and be living in the cupboards. Giant rats!!!
I think I told you, I know a chick that keeps one for a pet, lives in the house and I just imagine that it sleeps in the bed with her too.
Next time please get pics of Mr. Possum as it shreds your arm looking for a chicken wing.

He wont' shred my arm. They're very docile and slow. They lumber around looking for food. They are marsupial, not rodent. They have a set of teeth like a cat. Oh and they like eggs.

The only one I saw in the States was...........flat. Do they come any other shape?

Yes live and moving!

Was it a girl or a boy??
If it was a boy, did you see his parts.
They have a forked penis
Take some pictures if you do.

Thanks

Corner him or make him feel threatened, he will rip your face off in a not so docile and slow manner.
When they are stealing cat food and I poke them with the broom they are not quite so cute.

RE: Opossum! - Twitchin Kitten - 08-08-2010

Stop leaving food out for the wildlife! Stop poking them. They are actually good to have around you know. They keep vermin out of your yard. They are ugly but they are the rats worst enemy. You won't believe the amount of rats you have living in the woods. They are not only city vermin.

We have a LARGE opossum that sometimes comes up on the side porch and harasses our farm cats. I generally go and shoo it back to the woods from whence it came.

For a while there was an adolescent possie that would come up and it was as dumb as a box of hammers! Poor fucker would try to "hide" by using its tail and hang from the railing trying to appear asleep. When I would step toward it, it would panic and let go of the railing thus falling the 12 feet to the ground and usually would land square on its head!

Like I said....dumb as a box of hammers!!!!!!
