Twitchy's Adventures into Bicycling *Photos Added* - Twitchin Kitten - 07-16-2010

OK so I got my crummy bike out and tuned up. I was going to wait for a less humid day to start my daily rides but I don't see the humidity breaking anytime soon. So I decide to venture out today.

I'm all dressed, bike loaded with water, keys, cell phone, reading glasses and a wet towel when the phone rings. It's Matt's dad - so much for an early morning ride! After an hour chatting with him, I off.

I decide I'm going to ride to the nature center - Cattus Island Park and see about bike trails there. I'm out in the noon sun. It's hotter than the surface of the friggin' sun! Anyway, I'm riding up the road to the conservation offices and it's NICE in there! I park the bike where it says NO BIKES PAST THIS POINT (locked on the rack of course) and walk up.

The kid working there is nice. He showed me the ONE bike trail - which actually is good. It's a mile long and goes from my house to the conservation center. It's a mile long so I can do two miles a day to get me started! It also keeps me off the foot path away from the people. So I got lost trying to find it toward home Headpoke and I think I wound up on one of the foot paths instead. So, I noticed the road to my left and got off the trail and headed home.

I was melting I tell ya! MELTING! How the hell does Twistie do it? He's in shape that's how! I'll get there. Me -> Cow

Next time I need to remember to pack my inhaler too. I think my lungs were about to explode! That too will settle down in time. But all in all I actually feel good. Tired and hungry but good. Why is it when I exercise I get very hungry? I even make sure I eat before exercising too! If I skip a meal, it's worse! Kitty2

Must remember bug wipes too.... deer flies bombarded me like I was a tasty treat! So now I'm lumpy, sweaty, out of breath and itchy. Ambu

I'm going to do the slow crawl tomorrow and bring the little camera. Camera The woods are quite nice. If I can find the path for the bikes this time, I should hit the marshes and the cove. A nice dip in the water and then head home would be refreshing. And there are no sharks in the cove. Lots of shark sightings off the beaches this week.

When you say 'all dressed up', in what?
I'm thinking period costume from the 19th centuary.

Shorts, tank top, sneakers, baseball hat.

I think I'd have died in the heat if I had to wear a corset and long dress!

Eh...your body is just burning more fuel. When I ride a bunch of miles, like over 60 in a day I can eat like a damn horse and still not get all full and bloated. I remember a couple of years ago, I rode about 85 miles one day, stopped for the night and got a large sub, then downed a whole box of fudge covered graham cracker cookies at about 120 calories a cookie. When I woke up I was hungry again, off to McDonalds for a hotcakes breakfast before heading out for the day.

Anyway, keep it up Twitch, it gets easier, it never gets easy, just easier.

Today, I think we clocked around 4 miles between walking and biking. We found the bike trail - a measly 1 mile up and back. Soooo we did a no no - we wound up on the walking path with the bikes. Ate some blueberries and blackberries. Got bit up by all the bugs. I also fell. Yep, into the reeds. That's what you get for not watching the narrow trail and looking down at your sprockets instead! LOL

Not bad for an early morning 'stroll' to get the feel of it all. As we get more fit we're definitely going to be finding better bike trails. These are too short for the fatso sloppy people, never mind trying to make good use out of them for those in better shape.

We should have brought the big camera though, lots of osprey nests and tons of birds and bugs. Dragon flies by the rainbow! I thought we had tons in the yard but the ones in the woods were huge, colorful but not as friendly. The ones in the yard will sit on my hand when I put it out. Smile

They have a butterfly garden there too and the bike trail ends at a tiny private beach. We may bring towels and ride in out swimsuits next time. We also found an even more secluded beach on the foot path. Wink

I did mention this is on one of the bays right?

Man, all I ever find is porn laying by the side of the road and maybe a 19 year old girl flashing her tits as they drive by.Blush

Today I saw an osprey having a fish lunch! And wouldn't you know it, Matt took the little camera with him and I won't take the big one on the bike!

he was close enough to get a look at his eyes! Gorgeous bird. I saw him swoop into the marsh and grab the fish, fly up to a perch on a dead tree and rip the poor fish to bits and eat it. Then the stupid advertising planes came by headed for Seaside Heights and scared him off.

I also saw a bright red chipmunk and a red squirrel. I didn't know we had red squirrels here. I only saw the common gray ones.
I picked up a bunch of bottles that the slobs tossed onto the side of the trail and tossed them into the trash when I got to the end of the trail. Assholes. How hard is it to hold onto your crap until you hit the trash can? I always bring a bag to pick up stuff when I can. I don't go into the woods to see shit and garbage. Angry

OK Here is the trail I ride daily. It's in Cattus Island state park which is a nature reserve. It's wooded and marshlands and it is along the Silver Bay which is part of the Barnegat Bay coastal system.

That looks like a pretty nice place to ride Twitch, too bad you forgot the ever popular pics of your bike at different places. Here's a couple of my latest.

You know, I almost took a pic of my bike leaning on the crooked bench the Boy Scouts made at the end of the trail!

OK next time I go riding - which will be tonight with Matt - there will be more pics. Bikes included, even his faggy girls bike! Rofl
