I got my NHL Network! - Twitchin Kitten - 09-03-2009 So back in January we fired Comcast and got hooked up with Verizon FiOS. Phone/TV/Internet all in one. There are specific channels run by sports leagues: NHL Network NFL Network MBA Network MLB Network Some college and soccer ones too. Well, when we were hooked up all those networks said "coming soon". OK fine, it was early in the inception of the FiOS network and I figured they had bugs to work out. Two weeks later ALL the other networks are airing as part of my TV package (HD extreme package) except the NHL. So I figure something needed to be 'kicked' on their end. I make a call. I make three calls. All with the same bullshit excuse: "It's part of the HD programming and you have to pay for NHL with the additional sports subscription. *which sucks btw I explain to them that I have HD Extreme. They tell me some lame ass 'deal' with NHL is forcing them to make that one network a part of the pay package for sports. This does not make financial sense to me. I explain that. I get the same pre-programmed bullshit answer. Top it off, I'm trying to prove that the town north of me, and all the other counties in NJ are getting this channel already. So, I ask for programming. The dumb bitch tells me there is no one in programming, there is no program dept etc. Needless to say and long story short - I pitched a fit and found a number to call Corporate in NYC. I was bound and determined now! Ready to take a trip to the city too... it's only a short drive for me. So months go by and a couple of the same bullshit phone calls later, 4 attempts at contacting the NHL and getting ignored, I got a phone call yesterday from - guess where?- Verizon PROGRAMMING dept! See?! I knew they existed! Dumbass who thought I'd fall for that one. Anyway, the lady who called said I should have been getting this channel all along and we discussed several things and what to do. I had to call tech support and go at it again but throw around that I spoke with her. She didn't have a "good" number to call directly. So I called. Damnit if I neglected to write the tech's name down! Anyway, he agreed I should be getting it and he 'zapped' the boxes trying to force it through. Nothing. We are going back and forth with solutions to try - nada. He puts me on hold and I'm enjoying the crappy muzak when the phone rings and I am booted down to customer support. this is not good. So I got Ahmed on the phone now and I repeat all the bullshit I just went through and asked to get back to tech support and not customer service. Ahmed is an idiot. We went round and round all over again like in February to no avail. I told him that the other guy agreed I should be getting this and it's a mistake that I got him and customer service - then said, "What do you think, that I'm making this up or that guy put me on hold after half an hour work with me because he didn't feel like finishing what he started?" Ahmed said, "Yes, maybe that is the case." I had a red fit and I made him give me his name again and told him I'm going to have fun with him and I hung up. I called that nice lady back in programming (she gave me her direct line) and told her what happened. She shared my fit and said she'll take care of Ahmed and this situation. Well by 10 PM last night I decided to check the channel for the sake of it and lo and behold! I'm looking at an old playoff game! I called her this morning to thank her. I feel like calling customer support and asking for Ahmen to make him feel like shit. Ahmed. |
