friends in my yard - kbear - 06-04-2010 These two were in my yard today and last night. RE: friends in my yard - twisteroo - 06-04-2010 My cats would be all over Mr. Squirrel, I'd like to see what they would try with the other guy though. Is that a crane or a heron? RE: friends in my yard - kbear - 06-04-2010 I'm not to sure what it is. We get both in the cove. RE: friends in my yard - Twitchin Kitten - 06-04-2010 That is a Great Blue Heron. Gorgeous bird. We only had white ones in the pond behind the house where I had the farm. When I lived on Staten Island we had Blue Heron Pond where there were tons of them. It was turned into a preserve for them. http://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/blueheronpark RE: friends in my yard - twisteroo - 06-05-2010 Those birds are pretty cool, but not so cool if you just stocked your pond. The other day it was really nice and I was sitting outside, I saw what I though was a hawk riding and gliding on the lift from the warm updrafts, then I saw two and thought that was unusual to see more than one, then I saw three and then counted six. Then I realized they were turkey buzzards and they were circling over me. Bastards!!! RE: friends in my yard - kbear - 06-05-2010 We have also have a pair of eagles on the lake. This is the 2nd year that they have had babies! Need to go up there by boat and see how they are doing. I was told there is 2 other pair around the lake also. Some times you will see them flying over and around the lake. So pretty to see. |
