I saw a plane! - Rhubarb - 04-19-2010

So what you say? Fool

It is SO Quiet here, no planes or smoke trails since Friday! My parents love it they are on the flight path for the local airport, just as well it it only does European traffic.Beach

Then today, clear blue skies hot and sunny again, I put a few bits out on the washing line in the garden and as I do a small jet flies over! Run
Wow! Someone is risking a trip.

It turns out No1 son (he works in Aerospace) tells me its their rival company 'up the road' testing the atmosphere. One engine had glass in it (and only had two!) Someone in his office emailed them for an update.
Flights are still grounded at Hurn.

Man I totally forgot you lived across the pond. We have been watching it on tv. Barb also has a few friends she went to school with who live in London.

We watched how now folks are being transported via ship now.

All day they were saying how some airlines out there were starting to send out test flights to see if they can fly at all.

It's been said that these volcanoes in Iceland can go on for months. I think the last time that one went active was in the 1800's (late) and it went on for two weeks then. But back then it didn't cripple world air travel!

I think prop planes can still fly.

Here's some footage from the volcano.

That's one type of plane they test the air with, but the fusilage gets stripped of its protective paints.

It has been interesting to find that all these 'poorly paid' teachers are stuck in places like Portugal (headmistress at the infants) Florida and Brazil. The schools are short staffed when they returned this week after the Easter break. My friend Sue went to see her cousin in Australia and has been told there is a two week waiting list to get a flight home. She should have been home today.

The volcano went up again today. The news tells us this volcano goes up every 210 years and is one year late. It spews ash for about 4 to 6 months and is known to set the volcano next to it off too. Reports thought it was calming down so some flights were getting into Scotland briefly.
What we need is a change in weather and wind direction.
All the cars have this fine dust all over them like you would clear from a wood fire. I washed the Fiat purely because it looked a mess from the rally last Sunday, but it has a very fine grey layer all over it again.

The sunsets are amazing though, rode the motorbikes to the quay tonight and sat with a bag of good ole' English Fish & Chips and watched it set.

This morning I was laying in bed (wondering how long I could stay there until I was officially late for work) watching the squirrels in the chestnut tree across the road.
There is was- the first aircraft passing over high up in the sky. First one since Thursday. The skies look like a patch work quilt with the stuffing pulled out again wot
I really prefered the clear sky with real cotton ball clouds and not the trails.

The volcano has settled down a bit for the time being. I called my friend in Norway, who we are visiting soon. She had already started looking at back up plans if the volcano starts again while we are with her, or ideas how to get to her if the flights are cancelled. She said they had 4 inches of snow last night and yes it was snow not ash like Mark wanted her to go outside and check! Picknflick

The cars all look as if they have just come out of storage, the dust on them!

You just reminded me I need to send an email to our new friends in Norway too!

When we went to the Reverend Horton Heat and Motorhead concert, we met a fun bunch of guys from Norway who were here in America following the Motorhead tour. We had so much fun drinking and chatting we saw the sun come up. What a blast.

Motorhead, really?? I would have never guessed you as being a Motorhead fan.

Chris Moore: Lemmy.

Chris Moore: ... God?
Rex: Wrong, dickhead, trick question. Lemmy *IS* God.

RE: I saw a plane! - Twitchin Kitten - 04-22-2010

I'm not. Not in any way, shape or form. I went for Reverend Horton Heat. Matt likes Motorhead.
