Toyota Safety Strikes Again! - Twitchin Kitten - 04-15-2010 Lexus is on the Consumer Reports Do Not Buy list. Read here (and video) - http://www.insideline.com/lexus/gx-460/2010/dont-buy-2010-lexus-gx-460-says-consumer-reports.html I never buy anything with a short wheel base and high center of gravity. I had a Jeep Wrangler once and I hated it. Friggin' thing was 'goosey" on turns, wet roads and the goddamn exhaust that would kill you whether it was an open top or not was not worth keeping the damn thing. I had it for two weeks and got myself a proper vehicle. edit: found some video and more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pswOGMx8Tzo&feature=player_embedded#! From Consumer Reports: http://blogs.consumerreports.org/cars/lexus/ RE: Toyota Safety Strikes Again! - twisteroo - 04-15-2010 I would not shy away from a Toyota unless it was on fire or something. RE: Toyota Safety Strikes Again! - Vizth Hal - 04-16-2010 I say it's karma. RE: Toyota Safety Strikes Again! - Twilla - 04-16-2010 What karma? Toyota's has been one of the best and most consistently well built cars in the world up until recently. I still have confidence in their vehicles over the majority of crap produced in this country. RE: Toyota Safety Strikes Again! - Twitchin Kitten - 04-16-2010 Vizzy has personal reasons for that comment that only a few close friends know about is all. I've only ever driven American cars and they're just as reliable for me as those who drive Japanese cars say they are for them. I did have one Italian car that I loved and a Datsun (yes before it was Nissan) that had it's engine fall right out while I was driving to work one day! RE: Toyota Safety Strikes Again! - twisteroo - 04-16-2010 I bet the engine in that datsun was still running when it fell out though. I had a couple of those datsuns, the body would rot right off of them, but they would run forever. And the MG? One uncle stopped buying American cars about 5 years ago, when his machanic put him onto Suburu. The other has a retired US Jeep for Cave rescue work (no brakes, or floor pan) a 'trooper' (?) in the same state and Jap' crap, we call Jazz over here, you call them Fitts. Anyone watch our UK Top-Gear? They tried to 'kill' a Toyota. RE: Toyota Safety Strikes Again! - Vizth Hal - 06-09-2010 can you find the episode? Each week they did something different to see if it would survive. Left on the beach for the tide to swamp, set fire to it, dropped it from a 30 floor housing block, I think the Army did something to it. At the end of the programme it was left to see if the AA could start it and move it. After the drop I think moved, but sideways. RE: Toyota Safety Strikes Again! - Twitchin Kitten - 06-10-2010 I had a Suburu for about two years. I loved that car! It had a Unibody construction, nearly a million miles on it and you couldn't kill it! I got rear-ended and the drivers seat broke through the floor. ![]() |
