Of course it is. Its one of the most ruggedly beautiful countries in the world.

RE: Where Am I? - Twitchin Kitten - 05-10-2012

Is it in South America?

RE: Where Am I? - John L - 05-10-2012

Its not in either of them.

RE: Where Am I? - Twitchin Kitten - 05-10-2012

LKTraz already got that answer from me. It is definitely not in the southern hemisphere.

Let me clarify something, that on second thought I may be remiss in doing. When I stated that this is one of the most ruggedly beautiful countries in the world, I forgot to add another word. It is one of the most beautiful geologically rugged countries in the world. I constantly think in terms of 'geology', while most people think in terms of 'botanical' when thinking of beautiful. I thought I would make this clear.

I got you when you said rugged. I figured rough terrain, rocks, mountains etc.

You need to give another hint if you answered the hemisphere thing already.

Can you possibly disclose the continent?

Alright, anyone who is well versed in geography will immediately get this.

The two most actively seismic places in the world are Hawaii's Big Island, and......................................?

Iceland, if I remember correctly, the falls are named Littlansfoss

RE: Where Am I? - John L - 05-10-2012

BINGO! Iceland has more seismic activity than anywhere on earth. In fact Iceland has a surplus of electricity, which is generated via geothermal action.

The picture I used was the upper portion of Littlansfoss Falls, and you can see it and the front of the falls right here. I've seen a lot of waterfalls, and this one is not the biggest, or tallest, but it simply takes the breath away when looking at it on video. I can't remember the program I watched, but looking at the entire thing from a helicopter will leave the onlooker enthralled.

Litlanesfoss is part of a two part waterfall system, the upper first one being Hengifoss. There are so many awesome waterfalls on Iceland that the tourist would have to come back several times just to see them all. You can see a ten page accumulation of photos showing the falls system right here. My only regret is that I never got to visit this island.
