It' would do you well to read her post again. She didn't compare anything.

She's quite aware. "little" fiat.

"Look forward to seeing some of these trucks in a months time - they just don't come in like this here "

She's in the USA often enough that she knows the difference. Don't you all pay any attention to her posts about family here and stuff?

Nope, and it sounds like an incredulous comparison to me Tongue

RE: We're getting new trucks! - Twitchin Kitten - 09-08-2013

No idea who they are. Dylan likes to argue is all. We're used to him Biggrin

RE: We're getting new trucks! - LKTraz - 09-08-2013

Just a point here......this is a REAL figure on MPG for my truck and not what the fuel mileage reading on the trip computer says. Sometimes those things are right on but mostly they are off.

Consider that most large diesel engines don't reach top MPG capabilities until after the break in point and I just hit the 15,000 mile mark on Friday. Break in generally occurs somewhere between 65,000 and 90,000 miles. I think I may wind up in the high 6's to low 7's which is excellent for an 80,000 LB GVW vehicle.

The Macks we just got out of wouldn't do better than 5.1 - 5.2 MPG. The fuel savings we will realize will completely pay for 3 trucks each year. Couple that with greatly reduced maintenance costs and you can add maybe 66% of a fourth truck into the savings.

I'm not a company man by any stretch of the imagination but I do realize that by less down time and more savings to the company I will benefit financially by means of better runs with more efficiency meaning higher productivity and the end result will be better paychecks. This one of those rare "everybody wins" situations.

All that aside.........I just love the shit out of my new ride and enjoy driving it. Biggrin

top gear uk, james may drives a fiat panda (precursor of the 500) and is always on about how great it is. skip to 6 minutes in for a good idea of how the guys are to each other

Well, as far as I'm concerned her comparison was bullshit since you can't compare a passenger car to a semi Tongue

Quite right :p

Our neighbour is a 'Lorry' driver (as we call them) his 'cab' is a fraction of the weight of a MACK. I'm saying I cannot believe the consumption rate- compared to here, but then we do not have the roads to take such a big rig as LKTraz drives.

I'm pointing out the difference between a flea and an elephant Crazy
And yes I know US gallons are smaller than UK gallons and although we are metric (by European law) we still drive miles to the gallon not kilometres to the litre.
We buy fuel by the litre because it's so damn expensive!

Just gone up again TK Gah
£1.39 litre unleaded ($2.15) about $5.60 a gallon?
£1.45 litre diesel

Is that a US gallon or a metric gallon?
I just paid $3.77 this morning and we are expensive in this area.
I gotta start riding my bike to work again.

Ah - I don't watch that show. 6 mins in showed the idiots driving thru the south with shit written all over their vehicles trying to get shot at or beat up or arrested. Pretty stupid IMO. Why would anyone do such a thing?

Funny thing is when I talk with Dylan on the phone, he isn't as argumentative as he is on the forum.
