RE: Helicopter Cat - Twitchin Kitten - 06-07-2012

I have two pets cremated and on a shelf in a cherry wood box. All the others are buried in their favorite place in the yard.
None of them have been turned into a creepy helicopter under the guise of art.

I thought the video was quite interesting myself.

I could say more here, but someone may want to come down here and shoot CharlieK, for my sins of being one-sided.

Yeah, yeah, we know. You hate cats. You have no use for cats, might as well make helicopters out of them. Dogs are better than cats. You'd rather have vermin than cats.

Yeah, yeah, we know. You hate cats. You have no use for cats, might as well make helicopters out of them. Dogs are better than cats. You'd rather have vermin than cats.

What is it with some people? They always lead off with their emotions,..........especially women.

I'll say this again, I don't Hate cats. I just can't see what makes them so G-d Damned special to so many, that's all. And I'm talking in general terms here, because I have come across some that I would die to have as companions.

Those few are perfect companions, very social, and deserve to have their genes passed on to the next generation so as to improve a less than perfect breed. I'd love to host one or two of them.

Humans have been able to work wonders with dogs. So why can't they do this with cats as well? Huh?

If I really went out of my way to find a great companion cat, I would have to go through a bunch of throw-aways first, and I wouldn't want to be hauled off by the SPCA for cruelty to animals.

Tell you what Dear, the day I find a cat that is every bit as nice as the average Shih-tzu, I'll grab it and take it home with me. How's that?

Besides, if you haven't figured it all out by now, its not really the cat(s) I am tweaking here, but....................................

As for vermin, I have had three pet squirrels over time, and they are fantastic little guys. You have to get them fixed right away, or they get the urge to procreate, and will run away on you. And unlike cats, squirrels have a wonderful sense of humour, are super smart, and are very social.

Now, If only I can find a pygmy wart hog............................................

First of all - that whole "especially women" crapola. EESH, what a chauvinist Pig

Second, you have not met many decent cats then. I have never had a cat that wasn't pleasant to be around. Just like dogs, it's all about who owns them and how they're trained. Come to my house and sit with my cats. You'll be charmed.

Third - THERE ARE NO THROWAWAY PETS.

Now, quit busting my chops. I might bite back.

RE: Helicopter Cat - John L - 06-08-2012

Who's busting who's chops here?

And if candor/logic/reason is 'chauvinist', then I'm Guilty As Charged. Sorry about that.

Anthropologically I am stating fact, because women have to be successful at child rearing, and that means being in a constant state of concern/worry/unease over the safety of their offspring, who are usually busy picking up snakes, poking sticks in wasp nests, sticking some mushroom in their mouths, or some other dangerous thing. You are that way because of your genes.

And you all like cats better because dogs tend to have nastier than cats, which are self-cleaners. Cats don't shit on the floor, or piss on the carpet when they have to take care of business. Cats automatically head to the box that only needs changing periodically. In other words, cats are more "convenient", and require less upkeep.

But they are not Buddies, or opine when you pass away, as dogs do. If I left home on an overseas assignment, and didn't return for several years Charlie would immediately be in a state of joyful bliss over my return, after having mourned my absence. My cat would yawn and just say "Oh, are you back already? Where's that snack you promised me?" Huge difference there.

Sorry if I am prejudged in favour of one over the other. Perhaps I need to be 'fixed' so as not to be able to pass my genes on to the next generation.....................Opps, too late, been there done that already.

Fuck it, I'm out of here.

RE: Helicopter Cat - Twitchin Kitten - 06-08-2012

I call bullshit on all counts.

Cats are every bit a "buddy" as a dog. Again, it all depends on how they are brought up.
I have cats that are more loyal than dogs. I have cats that ALL, every one of them, come to call.
They hang out with me in the yard. They miss their friends when they die, thus it leaves me to believe they will miss me if I go before them. I've known cats and dogs to die shortly after an owner dies. It's called a broken heart.

You have some odd notion that cats are unfeeling, emotionless, feral creatures that turn humans into slaves for food.

They are just as much trouble to take care of as any other pet. If you are such a slob that you only clean out the litter box periodically, then well, that's gross. I clean the boxes several times a day. That's not convenient in any way.

There are several men on this site that love cats just as much as women. It's not a gender thing.
I also love my dog as much as I love my cats. We can debate this till the cows come home, but unless one has an open mind to things they do not understand, there's no point.

RE: Helicopter Cat - Twitchin Kitten - 06-08-2012

No one is trying to make you like cats. It's fine you dislike them. Just dislike them for the right reasons and not some myth.

RE: Helicopter Cat - Aurora Moon - 06-08-2012

I'm a woman, and I like dogs more than I do cats. I'd rather end up being a crazy dog lady than be a crazy cat lady if I ended up being forever single at the age of 60 Tongue

so don't spew crap about how women are more genetically inclined towards cats, okay?

That said... I don't like most cats, but.... I've seen some pretty nice cats. I think it's due to the fact that too many people think that cats cannot be trained, and tends to let cats do whatever they want. as an result they're sometimes very nasty and spoiled little things. however a properly trained cat can be very nice because they had an cat owner who knew what they were doing.
Cats cannot be trained in the same way as dogs, because Cats tend to think and act differently than dogs. My friend Allison owns cats, and she's mastered training them... they now know better than to claw on things, etc because she's conditioned them not to do that. they have a designated scratching post for that but everything else is off-limits.

however, I generally still stay away from cats as an rule, because most cats seem to love using me as a climbing/scratching post.
