I've seen one... ONE appreciation thread that I liked and that was for someone that was going through a lot of shit in real life and many members of the forum were being complete assholes to her. It helped put things into perspective for the idiots that jump on the bandwagon to bash someone.
But yeah, appreciation threads are usually some suck up asshole's way of ingratiating themselves to admin.

61ยบ in June pisses me off. It was so cold this morning I had to turn on the damn heat for a bit to take the chill out of the house. Three days ago I had the air conditioning on and the pool was warm enough to swim in.

I stayed home from work today because I knew the maintenance guys in my apartment complex would be here to fix my A/C. Well, whatever they replaced in the outside unit didn't fix the problem so they had to come in here to look at the ceiling doodad (and I fucking hate people coming into my apartment). Which is right over my PC area. Which all had to be moved once they got in here to look at it. I asked them to give me half an hour to move everything so hopefully they'll be back today. What a pain in the ass.

Naw, I keep that in the bedroom which is where I hid during all this fuss. But moving the tower, monitor, keyboard and all the excess junk and then dusting probably took me about 15 minutes with time to take a shower afterward. They probably think I'm eccentric as hell (which I am) but I don't really give a shit.
