RE: Proud new Family Member.... - Havoc - 03-31-2011 He's beautiful, The picture brings back so many memories of my babies when they were young. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Barb, I like the "off" to silence the dog! I'm going to steal that from you! Daisy is a right bitch when it comes to the noise she makes. She's an embarrassment when we take her anywhere and even though we had her trained, she just wouldn't STFU when asked. I sure could use a trick or two on teaching her to shut up. RE: Proud new Family Member.... - LKTraz - 03-31-2011 Actually the "off" command is to get down or off of something. Barb didn't include "shhhhhh" for him to be quiet. Same as the rest it's both a verbal and silent hand command and it's the same finger to the lip as you would use for any adult or child! Being the smart boy that he is, Rufus is picking up on it rather quickly and should have it mastered by the middle of next week! I have Bruce trained for the same but his command (verbal only) is "CHILL!" RE: Proud new Family Member.... - Jamminitin - 04-01-2011 Can you and Barb train my children like this? I liked keeping it simple, my command "enough" covers all activity no matter what. RE: Proud new Family Member.... - LKTraz - 04-02-2011 If Bruce is behaving badly I have 3 stages of the same essential command to make him stop depending on the severity of what he's doing. Mild: What's wrong with you? Moderate: What the hell's wrong with you? Severe: What the fuck is wrong with you? Yes, he DOES know the difference between the 3. For mild he simply sits down and hangs his head. Moderate he walks away, head hung. Severe he runs and hides. RE: Proud new Family Member.... - Rhubarb - 04-02-2011 Something has gone in our house My piggies have trained me, I think. Barclay made it quite clear this evening it was time for bed and the others follow his lead- eventually. So off to bed they went, even though I was trying to bring the washing indoors. RE: Proud new Family Member.... - MaryPat - 04-07-2011 Yeah Barb forgot to mention fetch, that I was able to teach him by playing with him.. He is a very smart dog. Today he was with us when we went to town & a fire truck went past us with it's sirens on & the horn blowing, Rufus stood at attention like he was a Fire Dog. He really amazes me at times! RE: Proud new Family Member.... - BarEdul - 05-17-2011 Hey folks.. Growing up date. Rufus is still growing along well and his behavior is great. He is a wonderful baby who loves cats and licks them constantly. He still wakes me nightly if my sugar goes down too low and I and LK and the family are continuing to train him. He is a smart boy who stays close to mommy. We have more pics of him as he is much larger than the last photo. I will post them in my new gallery sometime today. He is now about 22 inches tall and 50 lbs. After much reading I crunched the numbers they say he will grow for 2-3 years between the two breeds he is going to be interesting to watch grow up. RE: Proud new Family Member.... - Twitchin Kitten - 05-17-2011 Why don't you get him trained and certified as an assistance dog? He'd be able to go with you everywhere then. |
