I have no problems with anyone tattooing or piercing themselves. Remember who I work with?
They all have something somewhere. One client has twenty facial piercings and I tease him with the paper clip magnet. He loves it!
Ellen who came to stay from Norway had her tongue pierced and asked us if we were ok with it because Mark kept peering at her (right into her mouth) when she spoke. He also kept finding food for her to try to see what happened. She was disappointed that when she had it done no one said anything (she said she thought at least her astranged father should have kicked off, but he didn't notice for a whole year!)

Tell Mark if he stares into my mouth I'll bite his nose.
Why would he think something would happen with certain foods? The pierced chew our food like everyone else.
