RE: Pig Roast - twisteroo - 07-15-2010 ChickenHawk!! ![]() Oops!!! I meant ChickenHawk. ![]() RE: Pig Roast - Sally - 07-15-2010 Excuse my ignorance, I don't know a hawk from a crow lol. Nasty little bastards either way. RE: Pig Roast - Twitchin Kitten - 07-15-2010 Hawks are cool. We have all kinds here. RE: Pig Roast - twisteroo - 07-16-2010 Actually, those bald eagles that everyone is so ga-ga over are some vicious killers. Everyone thinks it so cool becasue they are moving back into the area here. Better watch your little doggies and cats, and chickens, rabbits, small children, young steers, low flying aircraft, forein cars, etc, etc.... If I remember correctly, Benjamin Franklin wanted the wild turkey to be our national bird, not those nasty eagles.....mmmm....wild turkey. Not the kind in the bottle either, anyone ever eat a wild turkey?? Now that is some good eatin. RE: Pig Roast - Twitchin Kitten - 07-16-2010 They're no less vicious than the Owl and we have plenty of those snatching small pets already. All day you can hear the Great Horned Owl in my area hooting like a maniac protecting his turf. Too bad they don't shoo off the sea gulls. Now those are dirty birds. RE: Pig Roast - twisteroo - 07-16-2010 How about a screech owl, you ever hear one of them?? Man, that's a noise that will knock you right out of bed in the middle of the night. RE: Pig Roast - Twitchin Kitten - 07-16-2010 yep - I find whippoorwills more annoying. RE: Pig Roast - LH - 07-16-2010 I like putting out black sunflower seeds for the Cardinals in the winter. I may get a great pic and be able to sell it. But I prefer not to think of winter in the middle of Summer when the light turns in a funny way the dawn turns everything strange colors at the end of the day. Right now everything is a bright yellow in the sky, the air, the woods.......everything is a weird color, ya just do not see that in the winter. But the winter turns the sky bright pink. I would rather lounge in my underwear in the summer though. But have been known to walk around in shorts in the dead of winter. I am so damn confused now that naked might just work. And I really don't care. ![]() RE: Pig Roast - Twitchin Kitten - 07-16-2010 The Cardinals have not left this area this summer. Either they've all gone batshit crazy or they just like it here so much they stay all summer. RE: Pig Roast - LH - 07-16-2010 I have seen many brown female Cardinals this summer. I think they are young and looking for a mate. They almost look like big brown sparrows and their size is really the only thing that seperates them. Birds will stay in the enviroment that is comfortable and sometimes do not even know they need to fly South until it is either past due or they get to cold. Inching their way south as the winter gets worse. I sometimes see birds that should be gone in the dead of winter pecking at seeds. They seem lost at times, but they may be just young and stupid. |
