RE: APRIL 1st--April Fool's Day - Twitchin Kitten - 04-02-2010 I've written letters complimenting and complaining to companies and all so far have sent coupons or coupons for free stuff. Some even sent replacement items. Most ignore you though and send a form letter saying thanks for your input and how important it is for them. I'm too unorganized for coupons. I can manage to search for coupon codes online, but I never actually end up in a store with a coupon when I need it. I don't understand the fun in April Fools' Day. To me it is a holiday for liars. I rolled my eyes at the Google/Topeka transformation the other day. Why do ya' want to celebrate liars? In fact, I know I have reached middle age because I view most holidays as a pain in the ass. I have to cook and clean up after and spend a bunch of money and have people over who won't leave when I want to nap. RE: APRIL 1st--April Fool's Day - Twitchin Kitten - 04-02-2010 I'm with you Crack. I dread Sunday. I just don't want to go. This year I got an old dog and cat who needs medication that will get me home early. This year I got an old dog and cat who needs medication that will get me home early. Before I was a heathern, I liked to go to the sunrise service. Other than that, Easter is for kids. Most of my family lives 2500 miles away (for a reason). Whoever you are spending Sunday with would be so sad if they knew you were dreading it. I wonder if they are secretly dreading it, too? I guess it would be too awkward to ask them. Hahaha I checked to make sure "awkward" was spelled correctly (mental block with a few words I look up often, early Alzheimer's), and I found this site: http://www.awkwardboners.com/ When my youngest is old enough, we are spending every family holiday at a casino. I could get into that. RE: APRIL 1st--April Fool's Day - Twitchin Kitten - 04-02-2010 You're right, if she knew how much I dread it she would be heartbroken. That's why I suck it up and go. RE: APRIL 1st--April Fool's Day - Twilla - 04-02-2010 I suggested we all call the boss the morning of 1 Apr and request sick leave. She came running up to the office to see the fourth person (out of four) that hadn't called yet to tell him he was on his own, and we were all standing there laughing. ETA: I guess that makes me a liar. I don't see April Fool as being a day for liars but more for practical jokes. To make a fool out of someone on the butt end of said joke. RE: APRIL 1st--April Fool's Day - Twilla - 04-02-2010 I don't enjoy practical jokes much but this seemed like harmless fun. One year I called in and said I wouldn't be at work because I had gone to Las Vegas and gotten married. When I showed up that morning, the office was in an uproar. Much funnier than the lame crap I had to listen to this year. I couldn't even must a courtesy smile. Poor lady, though. That's a tough situation to judge correctly. If you tell someone to quit screwing around and get to work when their grandmother really did die it would be a bit awkward. |
