It would allow me to go out of the house and not worry. It's unusual for a fox to bother with cats like that too. I can't imagine them being that hungry, but I would worry about rabies. If he is rabid he doesn't have much more than 6 days to live. Small consolation I know. Angus is the only outside cat now. He is bugging me right now, looking out windows, climbing on me. He will never let himself be a full on indoor cat, but we are letting him know he is welcome inside and still has us. RE: RIP Mikki - Twitchin Kitten - 05-25-2015 Mine go out for a few hours and are always in earshot and do come when I call. Put him on a routine and he will get used to it pretty fast. I can't stop thinking about this. I still think that fox may have been rabid. We have them all over here and they don't bother anyone's pets. They eat small things like mice and moles. RE: RIP Mikki - twisteroo - 05-25-2015 It was just so fucked up. He was just roughed up around the neck, bleeding from the mouth and I could see small punctures on his snout from sharp teeth. He had to have been shook. But it was an attack, not a stand off. I doubt he even had a chance to fight back. There was also very little fur in the area, just a small amount of Scruffy's fur. Nothing like after a cat fight. A dog would have been barking and would not have been scared off that easy, another cat would not and could not fight like that. Scruffy was a big cat. He was 2 feet from his tree where he was sitting when I left. Then I saw that bastard fox crossing the yard a couple of hours later. Julie and Chloe go out, but only supervised, Angus and Scruffy are/were outdoor cats, stray barn cats or feral cats as the do gooders call them now, and only come in for warmth in the basement in the winter and my wife has a habit of making them come in at night. Then this shit happened right as he got back out in the morning. Hanging out under his tree in the front yard not 10 feet from the house. He will be missed. RE: RIP Mikki - Rhubarb - 06-12-2015 TK messaged me about this sad news- I'm sorry about Scruffy- this why I have no love for foxes. There was a programme on TV only this week about urban foxes and rural foxes and how they are so very different in lifestyle but at the end of the day they are still a pest and cause so much destruction. |
