The error is from me not closing the
Code:

tag (I only have [/url ), so you'll need to edit it due to disallowing editing of own posts longer than 30 minutes.

Of course, this is the proper page
Kaspersky AU

I'm surprised you missed the fact that it 404'ed because there was a [/url appended to it Tongue

You had an extra [/url] in there not forgetting one. Tongue

RE: My computer caught a virus - ralgith - 12-19-2009

No, the board added the extra because it automatically closes tags. Airhead Smile

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I will start saving for the Kapersky one - after Christmas I think, it's expensive! But not as expensive as having to send my laptop to the shop.

McAffee was the only one that I could download while the computer was being attacked, except the one that the virus seemed to be suggesting to me, which I clearly wasn't gonna use. So I'm sorted for now, but I will work on getting a better antivirus, and on the registry repair aswell - next time I'll be prepared!!

I should have known I'd start arguments when I envoked the techies! Sorry!!lol!!

You might want to download Avast or AVG until you can afford Kaspersky so that you at least have something better than McAfee. Uninstall McAfee before installing whichever one you get. You can download it before uninstalling though.

You can also get ClamWin, which in my opinion is better than Avast or AVG by a lot, but currently the windows version has a broken "On Access" scanner, so you have to manually scan everything you download BEFORE you run it. Which is a hassle. I've cheated my way around it, not that I use Windows much. I run Linux on my PC, so I don't even have these virus issues anymore lol. I'd explain how to "manually" scan with a script, but its very detailed and I'm not good at writing tutorials.
Oops!! Link for ClamWin
