She rescued Smoky- he was a neighbour of ours cat (bought pedigree as a birthday present) he was matted and underweight. I'd been feeding him, my other neighbour had too and wormed him. Mum one night as she was leaving from babysitting saw him on the kerb, picked him up as she got in the car........ The vet cleaned him up and neutered him once he was well. One night the owner knocked on our door and said they heard through the grapevine we had the cat. They didn't want him back but had brought the pedigree papers to us to pay for (£60- at the time). I gave them an option, they paid the vet bills and we wouldn't tell the RSPCA about cruelty to an animal. They asked how much the bill was.... (running into hundreds) but I said to be fair my mum wouldn't include the neutering fee- that was her choice. After a brief pause the man looked at the papers and ripped them up, walked away. RE: Introducing.... - Twitchin Kitten - 05-29-2014 I had someone try that with Daisy and her papers. They had a hard time finding her a home and when they found out I had her, they wanted $100 for the papers. Fuck you. She's spayed, the papers are moot now. Same for a Morgan horse I bought years ago. I reported them to the Morgan Horse Association and they lost their permits to breed them for that. They frown upon that kind of shady dealing. So, I talked to the vet today and he said after 48 hours if she didn't 'get steady' by then, this is permanent neurological damage. If I had "silly money" to waste we can do CAT Scans and MRI's and if something is found do brain surgery, but that simply amounts to animal cruelty when you come down to it. He agrees with me not telling the regular vet we got her because they'd try to insist on $2K worth of useless testing and all. He said once she gains a little weight and is as 100% as she's going to get to bring her in so he can admire his handiwork. He said she was near death when I found her. He wasn't sure she was going to make it at all. Well, now we have a wobbly cat. She's wobbly walking and the hardest thing for her is looking up. That's when she outright topples over. Good thing I don't have stairs in the house. She's a love though. Follows me around all day and takes over Matt's lap at night. RE: Introducing.... - Rhubarb - 05-29-2014 She will sort herself- look how 3 legged animals work it out! Got a name yet? I liked Unsteady Freddy- how about Freda? RE: Introducing.... - Twitchin Kitten - 05-29-2014 We can spell Freddie instead of Freddy and make it a girl ![]() Unsteady Freddy is that guy who does the surf music I took you and Mark to, so I'm not so sure I want to nick the name for the cat. Although we did have Iggy Pop ![]() RE: Introducing.... - ralgith - 05-29-2014 I kinda liked Wobbles myself ![]() RE: Introducing.... - Rhubarb - 05-29-2014 (05-29-2014, 12:31 PM)ralgith Wrote: I kinda liked Wobbles myselfWhich is what she will possibly get called what ever posh name you give her. RE: Introducing.... - Twitchin Kitten - 05-29-2014 Well, Wobbles is not even close how unsteady she is! lol Weebles Wobble but they don't fall down. SHE FALLS DOWN. ![]() Poor thing. RE: Introducing.... - Biker Dude - 05-30-2014 Hope she fits in. Sounds like she is in a good place. I don't remember if I told this one here or not. I had the cops called on me for 'stealing' my cat Oscar. We were managing small apartment buildings, there were two, 11 units each right next to each other. A new tenant moved in in the fall. The brought Oscar. But they wouldn't let him in. A neighbor was feeding him but her kitty was getting upset. It was approaching Thanksgiving, getting cold. She called asking what to do, we told her to call animal control. But in the end I couldn't let him go to the pound so I went and picked him up. Got him fixed, shots, cleaned up, fed well. They then called the cops on us. I went over, told them the story, cop asked them if it was true. They said yes. He said 'you idiots are lucky I'm not charging you for wasting my time' and told me to keep the kitty. RE: Introducing.... - Twitchin Kitten - 05-31-2014 Well, it looks like Wobbles is sticking and she's answering. She's a little on the aggressive side toward Mikki of all cats! Lots of squabbling and I don't like it. Hopefully things should settle down in time. Sadly Iggy is not here anymore to sort this stuff out. He was an awesome referee and peacemaker. You never told that story Biker. Good for you. Fucks like that deserve humiliation. And she should have gotten a ticket anyway for something like animal abuse. Jesus, they didn't even fix the cat, which would contribute to a feral population on top of it. RE: Introducing.... - Biker Dude - 05-31-2014 Glad she is fitting in. I felt so bad for Oscar. I didn't have a lot of money so I had to get him fixed at a clinic with a sliding scale. When I picked him up he had peed on his towel and it was still in with him. He wouldn't let anybody touch his tail, I figured their kids had pulled on it, and his tummy was off limits. Picking him up was right out of the question. Life had to be on HIS terms. I guess we kind of stuck to each other because we both are a little grouchy. He is a TON better these days, but he is still a fucker sometimes! |
