It was extra funny cuz he's a big fat fuck with crazy hair. Like an over-sized baby Huey in a fur suit.
They knew we were mocking them. The didn't find it funny cuz they take their swordplay serious.

What's really ridiculous is that they don't use steel. They use wood broom handles wrapped in duct tape. They make fun of the "showy" Renaissance clubs like up in Tuxedo, NY who use steel because and get this - "They choreograph their sword fights where we really bash each other because we don't have to fear being hurt" facepalm

Pennsic War - this is their big event.

I'ma have to get me a Viking outfit.

L - live
A - action
R - role
P - play

Basically it's like "coming out of the closet" nerd style.
Yeah, that's what I meant. They would be hot worn with a viking outfit.

I used to compete in real swordplay (actually full melee combat, medieval style) competitions as a teenager at some place in Chicago. We used real everything, except the weapons weren't sharpened.

I've still got scars from it. It's fun as hell, and nothing like anyone thinks. And fuck, even with armor, padding, and unsharpened weapons it can hurt like hell if you get hit in the wrong spot. I wore about 90lbs of armor for those competitions. At 14, 15, and 16. Sadly, after my third injury claim the insurance was up to just over $2k/yr, with $900/yr equipment rental, gas to drive there 4 time a year... my Dad stopped paying for it. >_<

FREEBIES!

Dragon Scales came today along with another pair of boots I ordered and with the second pair came an expensive pair of men's dress shoes in Matt's size! Well almost. They're half size too big but we will see when he tries them on.

I called Amazon and they wont' take them back. they can't find them in my order or their inventory. So she said to keep them.

RE: Dragon Scales - twisteroo - 02-18-2014

Nice, if the shoes are too big just stuff some newspaper in the toes.

RE: Dragon Scales - Twitchin Kitten - 02-18-2014

They fit! I looked them up and they go for like $100 a pair on discount sites. I never heard of them till today, Robert Wayne shoes. They look well made and have a quilted cushioned insole. Now he needs a suit to wear them with lol.

Just keep me away from serious jeweler classes or my wallet is in for a serious bite!
