We weren't tailgating. My screen is very sloped by comparison to your H3 or my old truck for that matter, which is / was higher than your Hummer. Never got a chip in that either. There was a truck up ahead with a load of who knows what and even though it was several cars ahead of us, it could have been the one if it had some "air" and velocity to it. Or it could have been a rock thrown from a tire tread. Who knows?
I was told to leave it be until it cracks itself. Where it's chipped there will be a noticeable demarcation and since it's directly in my field of vision, it will be a distraction. Hot enough day it'll crack.

Blow drier it, then throw ice water on it.
