Trixie is 8 now. I got her in January of 2005. Their life span in captivity can be upwards of 22 years. Or so.

Wow, I hadn't realized they lived that long!

I've been a big dog person all of my life. But some breeds are much better companions than others. If anyone is looking for the ultimate personality, Black Labs are impossible to beat.

However, they tend to get big, eat a lot, and crap a lot too. They also have lethal tails, and can clear a coffee table faster than you can say "Ohhh, Shit!" And they fart like crazy. If I could find one that was only about 12-15 pounds, they would be perfect.

So that is why I have had to settle for my second choice: Shih-tzus. My Charlie(avatar) is the worlds biggest Love Machine, and always getting into trouble. I have to keep a close eye on him because he has not met a stranger he didn't fall in love with. Somebody's liable to steal him if I'm not careful.

If you like children, but don't want them all the time, a Shih-tzu is perfect. They don't shed, look like Ewoks, and act like little people. And they cost a hell of a lot less than the kids. Wink
