Bah...you guys have it easy. Half the English speaking population here is actually Afrikaans. They do direct translations, it's so prevalent that half the people who are actually English can't speak it.

Idiot advertisers saying a product is "New and improved!"
Break this down. If something is improved then obviously it existed before and this is a better version of it. If it is new then it didn't exist before so therefore how the hell could it be improved?
Popular phraseology such as this has crept into the English lexicon and has done nothing more than to further muddle the addle pated idiots that pass for the general public these days.
