I'm pretty sure all the smiles were fake, there was nothing to be happy about there. I don't even remember how they got us to smile as much as we were.

The one funny thing I do remember, there was one guy, I don't remember who he was, but we would all be standing at attention, all in formation, getting grilled, or drilled, or whatever was going on and this guys would be whispering joke. The bastard. It was funny as hell trying to not crack up while this shit was going on.

There are no photo's of my other half on his Passing Out Sorry

I have one or two photo's in his No2 and only wedding photo's in his No1 uniform.
I don't know quite what happened but he started his Army career in the Cavalry briefly, then as he was finishing his basic training they moved him across to a Corps where he had to stay on after the rest had finished- marched round- shook hands with the Colonel and packed off to see Mummy. He was two weeks later with a handful of others who just got their new postings and when they had to be there.
He was sent to Celle in Northern Germany. That was it.

When he came out, he was on reserve for several years and to ensure he was fit he had to go on a fitness camp. I remember sending the whole squad a box of Deep Heat rub-in and Savlon. They all thought they had died.
They got through ok, and THEN he had his Passing Out Parade (which I missed because my daughter had Chicken Pox).
