We can have races! Train them for the London Marathon, they would have no trouble completing it.

I think he looks much like your Bucky kbear (if I've got the right one)

yes, that is what I was thinking too!!
Bucky and him look like twins!!

Snowy has settled in really well. One or two issues though.
His wheel has two small holes on the back wall which he will occasionally stop and peer through, but they are so small all appears is a pink nose or a beady eye!
He checks it over every evening throughly (inflight checks) including the back which since he has grown he finds a bit of squeeze. I had to rescue him yesterday, he looked embarrassed, he had been struggling for several minutes.
He baths in his potty and 'rinses off' in the chinchilla sand. He pees in the corner where he puts the food he isn't going to eat (or at least I hope he isn't!)
Finally he hates the hoover and will appear bleary eyed hunched up from his bed until I've gone past. Small hint about the noise.
He also peers out of his bed pink nose and two pink paws at the bars if I make too much noise on my lunch break (slam front door/back door or the fridge chimes it has been left open too long). He is a light sleeper.

Trudi, isn't chinchilla sand too fine for hamsters? You know you can get childrens play sand from any hardware store for much cheaper too. And don't believe that bullshit about having to sterilize it. I used unsterilized play sand for 3 years with Kahlua without any issues.

I did cheat once when I ran out of sand and the stores were out - I went to the beach, scooped up a bucket full and sterilized that and used it! Worked a treat. All I had to do was sift it some for the larger rocks. Smile

I ought to get an update photo. Snowy has grown so much.

He is still very possessive over his wheel, if we go into his cage he leaps on it, only to get back off if he is offered a trip out in his roller ball (his second favourite toy).

He does 'in-flight' checks on it every evening. We watch him, get out of bed with the usual hamster routine of the bathroom, stretch, yawn, a belly scratch, rummage in the food bowl.
Then he studies the wheel inside, outside the rim, peers through the holes in the back (not sure why there are there myself- he is clearly puzzled by them) check the spindle, gets off then to check around the back, climbs the bars and checks the top (this is where sometimes he is in the embarrassing situation of getting 'stuck'). The final test is a gentle rotation clockwise and then anti-clockwise. He will then either get off and be busy with something else or will climb his platform line himself up and leap across the cage into the wheel and he is off, full pelt, until something distracts him or (which happens less), he forgets to brake and gets spun off Hysterical

He's a funny little guy!

I used to enjoy watching the dwarfs play on the wheel. Two abreast at full tilt and one wise guy would come by and step on the edge causing one or both to go flying out of the thing!
