Personally I don't mind feta as part of a salad but I couldn't eat it on its own, too salty.
In the summer I am all about salads with fresh ingredients, I eat a salad nearly every day in the summer.

today's regional offerings...pigs feet, either boiled or pickled, and hog chitlins. i think this is unique to southern Americans, perhaps not. i do know the slaves did not waste one scrap of the slaughtered hog.

Germans love their meat, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I remember my mother asking for the vegetarian options on a menu in a restaurant in Berlin in 1987, the waitress looked at her like a dog that's just been shown a card trick.

The Germans pickle damn near everything. Matt's dad eats pickled herring. Fish? they even pickle fish.
These pickled foods were done to preserve them for long storage I guess before the invention of refrigerators.
